Pats vs Panthers (Preseason)

The Panthers have lost Benjamin to injury and that pretty much leaves them without a top notch receiver. The only thing of interest will be watching to see how well the defense does against the run. Cam Newton should play at least half of the game and should challenge the D-Line to play straight or he'll burn them running out of the pocket.

Under normal circumstances Tom Brady would play the first half and at least a full series in the third quarter. Since the NFL has really lawyered up submitting a letter to Berman yesterday defending against 19 overturned arbitration cases, it makes one wonder if Garappolo will get more playing time? Maybe as much as half of the game?

I don't think this game will be that exciting, but you never know.......

Several players have to get on the field. Gronk needs to start getting into game mode, Edelman has me worried and you have to wonder if his injury isn't a biy more serious that is being let on. LaFell still can't run full out. Gibson is headed for the IR.

From the cheap seats it looks like Krause and Harper have passed Boyce and Dobson. At least they've been catching the balls within 6-8 feet of them and getting a few YAC. Friday night will be tha make or break for a lot of the skill positions.

Defense needs all the work it can get so put all the starters out there. OL needs work, Has Gronk played this pre season? I'll admit I haven't followed the games as much as I usually do this year.

I assume the vets that haven't seen much if any action yet will play this game. This would hopefully include Gronk, Edelman, Cadet, Wendell, Chandler, Mayo, Hightower and Easley among others. It appears as though LaFell is headed to PUP for the first 6 games which opens the door for rookies like Harper and Krause. Dobson should play some as well. Probably his last chance to win a roster spot.

Edelman wont be playing. He isn't even sure he will be healthy enough for the opener. I personally don't care if any of those guys play. Aside from Cadet. Health for week one is most important.

Offensive Line........Vollmer and Solder have both been limping around. They've had Fleming, Cannon, Michael Williams and Chris Martin at Tackle. Two rookies Mason and Jackson have been at Guard. The new kid Andrews has gotten half of the snaps at center.

Wide Receiver........The only regulqr with time on the field is Amendola. Other than him it's been a bunch of new guys like Krause, Gibson (injured), Boyce (horrible), Dobson (Career part timer), Chris Harper and D'Orazio. Reggie Wayne will certainly get his chances this week.

If Belichick doesn't pick up a couple of veterans when the rosters are shaved down, this team will not be able to defend it's Super Bowl Title. They may prove me wrong, and they have in the past, but right now this team is really in plug and play mode.

If Stork can't go, it's good that Wendell is back. Also, Andrews has looked better as the preseason has progressed. With his size and nastiness, he looks like a young Wendell. WR has me concerned, unless Harper and Krause are really that good.

I won't call them exciting, at this point serviceable. Their best asset....their doing their jobs.
