IF the Pats win the Superbowl that will give both teams 6 rings both have clearly had an impact on the history of the league. There are a lot of factors to consider, spygate, deflategate, steroid usage, free agency, salary caps, length of seasons etc. In your opinion is the accomplishment of one team any more significant than that of the other? Does either franchise shine above one as potentially the greatest franchise to date since the inception of the Superbowl.

If possible try to remain objective or is it subjective?

As of this moment, I call it a draw. But I grew up in a world of Steelers lunch boxes and Mean Joe green commercials on TV --- but, really, what N.E. has done is more impressive.

Should that happen...I think you just deal with the surface layer...6 = 6.

Trying to filter thru all of the "era" differences more or less lends itself to what one wants to believe. IMO 70s era football was just better, but in the era of FA, what NE has done to date has been more impressive.

Yeah, I wonder how keeping the same team of roided-guys together year after year would be less impressive than in todays era of free agency and parity.

I agree 100% and for the most part I asked this question because you know darn well IF it happens this is bound to be a conversation. I wanted to get the opinions of people that know football not those paid to write about it.

The Patriots have accomplished the unimaginable. Eight Super Bowl trips with the same coach and QB, with possible 6 Championships. They've dominated for almost two decades. We're watching history in the making.

Ill take your free agency and parity and raise you a "new rules where you arent allowed to play defense" era

Steroid use? Wait, you think the Steelers were the only team using them during an era when they were legal, both in terms of US laws and NFL regulations?

I hear ya, that's why I said it's a draw. But do honestly think the 2004 or 2016 Pats and/or Steelers teams wouldn't make it a game against a team from the 70's, all things being equal?

All great questions.....but you know some people won't be able to stay objective.:trash:

If they play under pre '77 or '78 rules, Pats wouldn't have a chance against that D. Post '78 or today's rules, it'd be a toss up.

IMO it doesn't matter given how many championships GB has.

The only slight difference would be NE won 6 in 17 seasons. That's insane.

Both teams have 2 back-to-back SBs

We've been over this before. Nothing has changed. In 1990 they became a class III drug. Prior to they were still controlled and required perscriptions. You couldn't buy them over the counter. Well at least not in the 70s. Before that I could care less. Stay focused Skippy
