I just now saw this, and i didnt see this covered here (if it was, my apologies).

Rex Burkhead brings versatility to New England...
The Patriots’ signing of Burkhead follows the team’s approach to acquiring outside players: A talented player, who has not had a clear-cut role with his last team and has thus become expendable. The 26-year old was the third option on the Cincinnati Bengals’ running back depth chart and, being mostly a special teamer, saw only minimal offensive playing time his first three years in the NFL.

2016 was different though. With injuries to Cincinnati’s top two backs, Burkhead became a fixture on offense and flashed his talents as a runner and a receiver. Overall, he attempted 74 rushes for 344 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching 17 passes for 145 yards – all while being tied for ninth in the NFL in special teams tackles (12). The versatility and production Burkhead brings certainly was appealing to the Patriots.

it wasn't unnoticed at all. Immediately, everyone said "that makes sense, he's a prototypical patriots guy"

My kid aced me yet again.
He has liked and mentioned his name last year.
I don't know if I'm proud or just dumb.
Go ahead and say it

i knew we'd get him on board...

christian peter didnt cut it for him i suppose.

Funny you say that but Christian came to mind when I was posting that, another waste of talent with his issues, him and Lawrence Philips, when you have real good guys like Beranger die in a plane crash, life is not fair sometimes

Rationalize it all you like
rationalize?

woodheads a 32 year old 3rd down back coming off another injury. rex burkheads 26, can play every down, and is going to the championship dynasty we are witnessing.

one will be an important factor for a super bowl run in 2017

one will not

Unnoticed is still the wrong word then. If going to the championship raises his profile- that's a contradictory position. Undervalued? That I could buy; Burkhead is a better runner than people let on. The second the Pats signed Burkhead people took notice because they understand he fits what the Pats like out of that spot. It was rumored about, speculated about, even the pricerange was dubbed favorable for what the Pats like. It's like death by advancing glacier- you can see it coming- from many miles out. Unnoticed is hyperbolic- Rock. Good value signing for the Pats? Absolutely.
