No,not by a long shot.......There were more equal teams back in the 80s and 90s than there is now.....

And let me guess, you guys are in your 20s.......?

Equal in the 80's? The Lakers and Celtics dominated that decade. Philly and Detroit won 1 each but it was LA and Boston, baby.

Tlance is not in his 20s

Well it doesn't matter....

The 80s Celtics,Lakers,Sixers,Bulls and Pistons were a lot better to watch than this LeBron James,D-Wade,Chris Bosch party of saying 8 Championship, the Golden State Warriors,LeBron chasing a dream team and whatever else shitshow of a league they call it now.....
Its horrible.

When the Bulls won 72 games, the 4th seeded team in the east only had 47 wins and the 5th seeded team in the west only had 48 wins.

Look at the NBA standings when the Warriors one their 73 games and it was very similar.

The league is doing amazing actually.

Really not a debate.

I would rather watch the Lebron led Heat, Warriors, and Spurs teams from 2013 and 2014 more than most teams from the 80's and 90's.

Once again, it is a better product now

I am 40 and I grew up watching Jordan and Pippen completely dominate the NBA.

Gee I'm sure the Bulls being awesome then and shitty now has nothing to do with your claims

Free country and all but the ratings and interest in the NBA is much stronger today, so good job!

Look, I am a basketball purist. I respect the hell out of James Harden's skill, but hate his ball dominant style.

The game I watched throughout my formative years in the 90s was ugly as hell. Too many teams tried to copy the Bad Boy Pistons and the game often developed into a wrestling match in the paint with teams struggling to score 90 points in a 48 minute contest.

Today, teams are trying to copy the Warrior style of pace and space. Great ball movement is a necessity and league rules now actually allow skill players to play basketball instead of something more closely resembling rugby.

You should not be able to extend your hands and grab an offensive player dribbling past you. Nor should you be able to cheap shot your opponent and remain in the game.

The style is better, rule changes have brought skill back to the game over raw athleticism/strength and there are more stars in the game than ever before. The current version of the NBA is the best version yet.

I don't like you.

Surprise you didn't say Ben Wallace
Ben was below Chaunc and TayTay for me. And he wasn't a Stone till I got to college. Plus, he intentionally was a Bull. I went to games at the UC just to booo him.

Woulda been a vote for Webber. But, he's a bitch. No soup for him.

Believe it or not, the NBA is a better product now than it was during the Jordan years

I disagree. The 90's, in it's own way, was every bit as entertaining as it is today.

I prefer the way the game is played today to the 90's. But I still enjoyed the physical play of the 90's.

Growing up I was a Charlotte Hornets fan so I was a huge Larry Johnson fan, then transitioned into Glen Rice for a couple years, after that it was Baron Davis briefly. Once they moved out of Charlotte I stopped following them. I didn't really have a favorite team for the next 5/6 years or so, then became a Sixers fan when I moved to Philly briefly. Since then it's been Embiid.

He means the actual style of play. But weren't the 90s also one mega team and a few good teams?

Don't know why this is so hard for NBA watchers to get. The NBA is almost always a league dominated by one (or two) big dogs you either wanted to win or lose, but you watched them. For the brief periods where there's no big dog team, sure there's more uncertainty about who wins it all (and even in the big dog eras sometimes other teams win like 2016, 2014, 2004, 1983, etc.) but the ratings are lower and the interest is less.

You GS fans like to pump your chest on the bolded part, but...

On Thursday night when I had wanted to stay in for the night but unfortunately found out that Wizards/Warriors was the national TV game, I instead searched for a local boys HS game to attend and eventually make a fool of myself at.

Not joking. That is how much I don't want to watch the Warriors.

I had a few favorites over the years who are no longer in the league.

George Gervin. Moses Malone. Olajuwon. David Robinson. Tim Duncan.

I don't have a current favorite player. I can't even name anybody on the Spurs this season.

So don't watch lol

The Bulls werent competitive until the very end of the decade for the record. And the Sixers weren't competitive at the end of the decade. People always misremember that the Jordan Bulls got their shit pushed in until 89

I will also add I don't think now is better than the 80's to 95 or so. But it's definitely better than 95-08 or so. And I say that as a Pistons fan who's team dominated the East from 02-08

I'm 38 for the record.

Nobody cares how you choose to waste your Thursday night.

@msgkings322 point is 100% based on fact. Throughout the history of the league, teams like the current Warriors, the Jordan Bulls, the Shaq/Kobe Lakers always have and always will generate better TV ratings. The majority of NBA viewers won't be excited about tuning in to see two mediocre teams play. People watch the superstars and the superteams. It is time proven fact.

So if you choose not to watch one of the greatest teams of all time play, that is your choice. But his point is 100% true none the less.
