in part one i will deal with some non-player issues that need to be fixed
1) dan snyder needs a come to jesus moment . stay out of the day to day dealings with the team and stop enabling drama. the biggest issue on this team is the off field drama
2) decide on what role a.j. smith is going to have (or another GM) and what role bruce allen will have
3) Enlarge the scouting dept. it is the smallest in the nfl and finishing last 7 of the last 8 years shows it need to be addressed
4) we are rebuilding . keep some core guys but look to upgrade talent
5) identify our needs and rank them . as i see it there are as follows
qb we dont have one who can be more the a bus driver or stop gap , there isnt anything note worthy in the draft so put in building block around the position
o/line we have one pro bowl caliber guy and the rest are below avg performers or should be BU's the draft could help us here
d/line we have age here 4 of the guys are on the wrong side of 30 and are injury prone , jenkins is an FA and a rotational guy , kearse is a BU as is baker
safety . we dont have an NFL caliber safety at either position period
TE we dont have a guy who can stay healthy or block well enough
KR we dont have anyone who can flip field position or is a threat to break it . all we have is a guy who can hold serve
WR , we need a tall red zone type of guy we have 4 good wrs but we need height
OLB , we will need either a starter here or a depth guy who can rush the passer
5) value our draft picks trading down is fine but no more gutting drafts for one guy who is more often then not likely to bust out and set us back 3-4 years if it fails
6) stay away from big name free agents that are over the hill . only sign guys under age 28 and perhaps a cheap stop gap but that is it
7) understand that this is a long process. it wont be fixed in a year or 2 (most likely 4-5) the fan base will accept it if you make progress and stop with all the drama
8) stay out of the stupid name change debate . it only adds to the drama . defend yourself when needs be but you wont change the fringe on this
