They'll also have to make a corresponding 40-man roster move. They just filled up the last one on Daniel Carbonell. My guess is Nick Noonan, who has been ineffective this year, and already had a shot at the majors (abet, not a long stint).

Gillaspie was a sup. Noonan and Culby were both part of the HUGE 2007 class.

Did bum get a cuppo in '09? Fair enough.

That makes sense. Boch is not a fan of gift-wrapping starts anyway.

EA has been playing well enough lately, anyway, so another game or two should be fine. Hopefully the shakeup alone will wake some guys up.

Good move on several levels, IMO. Panik deserves a shot, Hicks has regressed to his mean, or even floor, and we need an infusion of karma. So as not to be cold about it, would like to see Pagan DL15d and maybe keep Hicks on for now if Panik isn't ready. But I admittedly suck at understanding options and such.

Yes. It feels like it's been awhile since we've been excited about a prospect making a debut (Hembree's cuppo last year was nice, but I was disappointed he didn't make the Pen this year).

This is a lot about the Giants seeing what they have, if they need to make a move to upgrade 2B or SP, or neither, by July. It's also a little shakeup after losing 9 out of 10.

I can't see the Giants sending a pitcher to Fresno (or DFA).

I can't see the Giants sending Perez down (as much as I'd like it), with Oxy injured, that would leave them with Blanco, Pence, Colvin, and Morse as OF (though I suppose Arias could play OF in a pinch).

So I guess it comes down to HicKs (DFA or option), or EA (who has warmed up of late)

HicKs really helped us in the first two months of the season, but has really struggled with the bat in the last month or so. He's my choice for exiting for Panik.

Sounds like the Giants are prepared to play him a lot, see what they have in him. He's been hot with the bat and glove in Fresno. This ain't AAA anymore though.

But if he can stick, then the Giants can invest more in a starting pitcher (Price?). That may be wishful thinking.
