Pretty clear... $$$ talks. Conferences know what sport pays the bills.

We should no longer consider football players student athletes in the true sense of the word. They play a game so schools and athletic conferences can reap the financial reward for their effort.

Will College Football Return if Students Can't Return to Campus? Conference Commissioners Weigh In - Stadium

Multiple conference commissioners told Stadium that student-athletes would not be prevented from returning to campus to play football this season if classes are limited to online-only instruction.

This is a dramatic shift from just a few weeks ago, when many college administrators indicated the general student body would need to return to on-campus classes in order for student-athletes to participate in college football. Those decisions – whether to play if the campus is closed to general students but open to student-athletes – ultimately will be made by the individual school presidents or chancellors.

“Going to class in an online sense is satisfactory,” Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said. “There’s room for that to happen. School has to be in session, student-athletes have to be going to class.”

A month ago, the general consensus among administrators was that there needed to be alignment among all conferences and schools to play in the fall. Now, five of the 10 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conference commissioners – including three from autonomous Power Five leagues – also said their respective conferences likely would play football this fall even without all of their league members.

“Why can’t you play football on campuses that are closed?” the athletic director asked. “If classes are being offered online, there is no restriction on where you complete the course work. You would need an easily-administered COVID-19 test that is available to every athletic department. Test the student-athletes, coaches, trainers and support personnel to make sure that your cohort is free of virus. Quarantine the cohort for practice, online classes, food service and leisure time activities. This would be a very safe environment.

That whole article prior to the ASSHAT Ad in the last paragraph is what I have been referring to with some degree...there are many campuses that are thinking about not opening...and the social distancing that would not be able to be maintained in the Weight rooms, or fans in the stands...

Tot he ASSHAT AD in the last paragraph if your stadium is half empty or completely empty how do you generate ticket income?..if al the members of your conference do not play how do you have a CCG? Who eats the lost revenue for games not played or to FCS teams playing their PAYDAY game at the beginning of the seaon? For the Conferences with a Network attached how do they make money if all the games aren't played....that AD should be fired ....

That sounds more like the secondary plan I mentioned. Where we have a season with the schools that are able to play and games are rescheduled with the teams available. With MLB planning to reopen in July and play before empty stands, could we see something similar for the NCAA football season? Pressure is mounting on the NFL to delay or cancel their season. I'm sure the NCAA will be watching the NFL closely. So much is still in the air, pun not intended...

Let me know how the squirrel thing works out...I am dealing with an Chipmunk!
Got them out with small have a heart traps, went into the attic to insure no babies, I found where they had screwed up the insulation into a nest. Found that they had chewed a hole in the screen inside one of the gable vents. Took the ones I caught out into the woods a few miles from the house, figured a squirrel that could live in rockwool was probably too tough to eat!!!

California is going online for the fall. Looks like many others will follow. This year continues to be a mess.

Gee speaks...

WVU President E. Gordon Gee appeared on WOWK’s “Opening West Virginia” special on Wednesday and seemed certain that games would be played on the gridiron in the Fall.

“We are going to play football in the Fall,” Gee says. “Even if I have to suit up myself.”

He stressed safety is paramount and the decision will be made based upon what is healthy for students, fans, and student-athletes.

This country needs to move from being shut down to getting back to hope and opportunity, and certainly athletics provides great hope,” he says.

This is our new normal.

IMO, there is little reason to think we won’t have football this fall. There would be civil war if that were to occur. And, I’m being completely serious about that...

This pandemic may be the end of the NCAA.

G5 schools cannot maintain their athletic programs.

Likely why Slaton is entertaining conversations with Georgetown about questions for athletic competition at their school.

The great divide... it’s worsening...

So how do you have a NC game if say 20% of the teams don't play?..Stanford joined the list of no school in the fall...Pac 12 now has at least 3 schools cooked for the year

The same as you do now, brother, over half of the Div. 1 schools are not even allowed to be in the discussion because of the league they play in, so instead of 64 (+1) teams being permitted to be voted champ, there will be something less than that. BTW, did you get your chipmonk handled?
