Vanderbilt would be ranked 5th in the conference academically if it were in the PAC-12.It's funny that the Pac-12 claims to be the country's second-oldest major conference. The schools that made up the original Pacific Coast Conference - which included 8 of the league's current 12 members - disbanded in June 0f 1959. Four of those schools (California, USC, UCLA & Washington) formed a NEW CONFERENCE in July of that year, with Stanford coming aboard a month later. The new league was dubbed the Athletic Association of Western Universities. Washington St. came aboard in 1962, with Oregon & Oregon St. joining what would eventually be called the Pac-8 in 1964. Even though the new league would be comprised of essentially the same schools as the old one, it was still a new conference since the old one - which dated back to 1912 - had been disbanded.
Current major conferences that pre-date the erstwhile Pac-12 include the Big 10 (founded in 1895), the SEC (1933), and the ACC (1953). Another FBS league (but not a Power-5 league) that pre-dates the Pac-12 is the MAC, which was founded in 1947 as a small-college conference. Additionally, the MVC (which no longer sponsors football) dates back to 1907; and the Ivy League - which traces its lineage to 1901 - and the Southern Conference (1921) were considered Major College until they moved to the FCS (1-AA) level in 1982).
Ok, so some dudes that were like brothers changed the name of their clubhouse, but have hung together for longer than all but one other group in school. It's funny that the Pac-12 claims to be the country's second-oldest major conference. Word is the Cougs D coordinator has that wandering eye right now and could be gone soon. Leach has already been looking to exit stage left as well. We could very likely be seeing an entire new staff in Pullman in the next year or two. Feels like Leach has one foot out the door already.

WOOF!!! Huskies land one of the top ILB recruits in the nation.
losing to Boise in 08 and 09 had nothing to do with not booking them again. it had to do with Blount and not wanting another scene like that.BSU are now 3-0 against the Ducks the past 10 seasons. It's kind of funny because the last two beat downs during the Kelly era were such a perceived scar on the program, they refused to book another home and away with BSU. Both games, their fans acted as if a victory was an automatic and even playing BSU was beneath the greatness of the Ducks. 2 beat downs and the Ducks refused to book anymore games with them. The scars were too much.
LOL at the fact they couldn't hide from them anymore with a bowl matchup and the Broncos absolutely treated them like a blowup doll again.
Should BSU fans start mentioning "the streak" every time a Duck is around? Think they've earned it.
