Ive said the same thing to UM slappies who think we will compete for a national title any time soon. Even if by some miracle they win the B1G — they’d get smacked by the top teams.
I will put it in perspective the talent level difference in the B1G. UM has the #2 recruiting class in the B1G this upcoming year. Our #1 recruit AJ Henning would be the 10th highest ranked recruit for Ohio State this year.
But you keep thinking Nebraska is going to compete for Championships regularly again.

This isn’t the 80’s and 90’s anymore. The overwhelming majority of prospects are on the football camp circuit attracting the attention of every major school. Having home grown talent is more important than ever, because it gives you a base to work with. Those kids can sell the school and area to other elite recruits.
Here is the part you seem to be missing — Nebraska doesn’t have that base. While they may have a shot to compete for their division title because of the division they play in. Competing nationally with teams stocked with NFL draft picks is a pipe dream for Nebraska. UM is in the same boat, but Nebraska makes the state of Michigan look like Florida for HS recruits

No different than a completely different landscape in TODAY’S CFB where recruiting is big business, high school camps are big business. Advanced coaching at the HS level is at an all-time high.

I think there's an individual game view, which is exactly correct in the case of the Citrus Bowl. Nobody saw that matchup announced and thought, "Michigan has a good shot". Alabama was always the better team and should have won that game. I was happy we fought until the last few minutes of the 4th where Alabama went up 3 scores. There's also the view of the people who lump 5 years of Harbaugh together and point out that we haven't won any game we weren't supposed to win; which is a fair assessment. For the most part we win games we're supposed to and don't win games we aren't supposed to. I think we're a great QB away from changing that, the question I have is if Harbaugh can ever produce one. Everything, for the most part, seems to be coming together but you have to be able to hit those wide open guys and strike against teams like that if you want the upset.

Dude, I just showed how a team that spends 25% of what Michigan spends on recruiting and has no in state recruits does better than Michigan in the current "landscape" of CFB as you like to put it.
And they’ve won what? If your end goal is for Nebraska to be competitive in the B1G West. Then yeah — Securing recruiting classes in the 20’s and 30’s nationally will be just great.
Why? Because the rest of the teams in your division recruit the same.
It is the reason why the B1G West has won zero CCG since it went to the B1G East and B1G West.
