I didn't quite post it correctly, but you got the gist anyway. :-)

agree this Staff isn't THAT bad, at least on paper?! they have a lot of experience and were at higher coaching levels prior.
Exactly. My biggest question mark is Chryst as OC. He was briefly an OC for the Chargers and they weren't very good, but if you saw who was on that roster that wasn't shocking. Mangini is another one who is a question mark

ok, If you think about it all 'new' coaches have question marks till they establish a track record? So yes, we fans can't "bless" these coaches anyway, and they all have question marks.

There are stories like last season about the team fired up, ready to go and Kaep is getting used to the uptempo offense along with calling plays in the huddle. All these stories are one thing in practice but implementation on game day is different. Similarly to last year, TC had some nice plays and then we saw what happened in the season.

With the offseason that was, depth chart aside, my concern is do they have the morale to get past all the distractions and win enough football games. I would love to say they can, but I just get the feeling it will be a long season.

Not to be a stick in the mud here, but I really don't see where these wins are going to come from. Obviously, I hope you guys are right. But I'm not seeing it. At all.

I think we're easily looking at a top 10 pick in the next draft.

That's cool. Alot of different opinions. I want to see what this team looks like through preseason before making any type of prediction

from reading articles to date, looks like the morale is high? Don't see why players would be dwelling on Harbaugh and other distractions by now? At this point, they're focusing on learning the scheme and their own improvements.

No player is going to bad mouth the new Coaching staff, but quite a few have made positive public statements. I take that as key players 'buying in'.

what can make the morale go down........fast........is starting off with a losing streak. Fan morale will go down after two losses, but i'd say the team goes down after 4 losses. In THIS scenario, yeah it will be a LONG season.

Just beat Minn and this teams confidence will go up.

That's understandable since there's such a fine line between being a good NFL team and being a bad NFL team. I'll take the wait and see approach, too. It's all we can do as fans, anyway, besides bitchin' and moanin'.

Exactly. I think most 49er fans are realistic in their expectations given what's happened. I understand some of the pessimism. But all some people can do is bitch and moan about everything and when every comment is negative or s put down, that gets old after awhile.

The five other wins would from from the Falcons, @Bears, Rams, @Browns and one of the following: Bengals, @NYG, @Rams, Cardinals.

If they can't beat the Vikings, then they beat the Falcons and two games between @Bears, Rams, @Browns.

This team has a hard time beating the Rams when they're good. They're not sweeping the Rams, and I'll flat out guarantee they don't beat the Bears. Again, I don't see 5 ABSOLUTELY winnable games. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

coaching STAFF, or Harbaugh vs Tomsula?

Coaching staff. You can't possibly think that this group of castoffs that nobody else even wanted to interview amounts to a good staff. I get being a fan, but c'mon. Suggesting this staff is anything other than "worst possible scenario" is disregarding reality.

Good quote. I don't think Tomsula is going to be very involved in game planning. I expect the coordinators will be primarily responsible. At the same time, from what I've read, Harbaugh was not very good at X and Os either and left that up to his assistants. Anyone who thinks this coaching staff is horrible hasn't really looked at it, especially compared to the prior staff. There are holdovers. The biggest loss is probably Fangio and Donatell. Geep Chryst is a question mark and I believe the WR coach is too. But they probably aren't going to be any worse than what was there under Harbaugh. The oline coach is very good one. Tony Sparano is an upgrade over Mangini for tight ends. I was a bit skeptical of Steve Logan till I read his background and I am a bit more optimistic in his abilities. Mangini is a question mark. I like the DB and linebacker's coach.

I respectfully disagree. Tony Sparano is an upgrade over Mangini (frankly, every poster in this thread would have been an upgrade over Mangini), yet Mangini got promoted (to the other side of the ball). In your defense of this coaching staff, you called the OC a question mark, the WR coach a question mark, the TE's coach is an upgrade over the guy we promoted to DC (who you list as a question mark), but that doesn't mean Davis is going to turn into Terrell Owens. An improvement there would be 300 yards and 3 TD's. How is this an upgraded coaching staff when you admit both coordinators are question marks, and that Tomsula is not as good or involved in game planning and will leave that up to his assistants?

I'm not sold on Steve Logan. The lone bright spot on his resume seems to be working with Matt Ryan at BC (as the OC), but Ryan isn't exactly a shining endorsement either. Additionally, he's super old. His previous good stint in the NCAA was in 1991 (I was in high school in 91). I don't see anybody respecting or listening to him unless Kaep throws for 400/4/1 in the first two games. But if Kaep goes 180/1/2, what then?

Even if the DB and LB coaches are the best on the planet, with the attrition of the roster, does it even matter?

vs Minn= W
@ Pitt= L
@ Arizona= L
vs GB= W (we just have their number and its at home)
@NY= W (We are still better then the Giants.)
vs Ravens= L
vs Seattle= L
@ SL= L
vs Falcons= W
@ Seattle= L
vs Cardinals= W
@ Bears= W
@ Browns= W
vs Cincy= L
@ Det= W
vs Rams= W

After breaking it down I guess my prediction is 9-7 instead of 8-8. Now don't get me wrong this team can still go 6-10 or 10-6.

Teams I don't see beating us are Det, Chi, NY, Browns and Min. That's 5 games right there. I think we will beat SL(split) and Falcons.

Toss up games are GB and at least 1 Win against Arizona.

If the season goes right I can see us winning 1 out of Pitt, Ravens or Cincy. =10-6
If the season goes bad I can see us losing both toss up games that I have and 1 of the easy games.= 6-10

if we are in the race the end of the schedule looks good.

You don't see Fangio beating Kaepernick? You should reevaluate that game. I will tell you right now this team will get destroyed by Green Bay. We lose that game by 20 points, and I don't care if it's played in the middle of the ocean. As for Minnesota, if Peterson rushes for 200, is that still a W?

Yes, Mangini got promoted, but he is on the side of the ball where he is supposed to be. I didn't say it was an upgrade over the coaching staff. You can't say this staff is so horrible when it isn't horrible compared to the last staff. Tomsula might not be involved in game planning, but Harbaugh wasn't good at it either. If he was really involved, that is an indictment on him. The offense was a reason this team was 8-8 last year. Couldn't get plays called on time and couldn't make half time adjustments. The offensive play calling structure becom dysfunctional un Harbaugh and he refused to address the problems. Having good coaches isn't necessarly going to make the offense of defense great. The offense under Harbaugh/Roman last year is proof of that. That isn't even the point

almost all coaches eventually get "fired".

Most Assistants have to go when the HC goes, not necessarily because they themselves were bad.

I say 9-7 making us better than last year. We finally get to see how we these last several drafts went for us this year. I think year will be a lot like Harbaugh's first where we overachieve. This team will have a chip on their shoulder for so many writing them off.

Then again so much comes down Kaepernick and that offensive line. This might be the best collection of playmakers we've had in 15 years on offense though. Scoring points should simply come down can the Line hold and can Kaep have a bounce back season.

I think the D will be fine and won't drop off to much from last year. It could be so much better though if Aldon was not a dumbass.

After KC's game tonight makes me even more worried we traded the wrong QB. Kaepernick at the time would have got us at least a 1st round pick. Smith is clearly a more respected player and better leader as well. Hope Kaep's superior skills come through this year.
