Speaking of somebody who was a shell of himself the last two years - Look no further than Rick Nash. 21 goals two years ago, 26 goals last year, already 36 goals this year on his way to maybe 50 goals. Something fishy is going on here.

(Real talk, steroids are nearly pointless in hockey)

I don't think this is necessarily true. not all steroids are designed to add size or make you ripped. many are designed to aid in recovery....something that would be very beneficial over a 82+ game NHL season.

case in point about recovery...certain steroids were popular in the 90's and early 2000's by professional cyclists (and probably still are). And pro cyclists certainly wouldn't be looking to bulk up. but to aid in recovery during three weeks of climbing some Europe's biggest mountains? no doubt!

Yeah, I know, but I'm not sure that's what he's getting at with his point. And I don't think Ovechkin has had much in regard to injuries in his career. And cycling is blood doping, which everyone could benefit from really.

oh, I don't think he has much of a point either (unless ignorant troll is a point).

and FWIW (yeah, that's right WW!), cycling was/is blood doping/EPO, steroids, blood transfusions, etc. You name it,they did/do it!

You do realize Dale Hunters style of play was a defensive style of play correct? Then Oates comes in and opens up the O a little more but not much. I would see your point if he came into the league lookin like Marchand but he was a moose as an 18 yr old. Russian machine runs on vodka and getting laid. Keep it up Commrade!:suds:

The difference is all power play anyway, Ovechkin doesn't even need that excuse. Here's his per game even strength goal scoring over the last 5 seasons:

2010-11: 0.32
2011-12: 0.32
2012-13: 0.33
2013-14: 0.35
2014-15: 0.36

I'm not the foremost authority on numbers, but those all look kinda the same.

It's about a 3 goal difference over 82 games between the best and the worst of those.
