Damn UVA, y'all gonna cause me to have a heart attack.

Welcome to the life of a Tony Bennett team. Cal definitely played better though tonight in my opinion. Wondering if they were hungover a bit from beating Villanova by double digits this past Saturday.

Since you watched the game as well, were you annoyed with the long cut ins to the Oakland-MSU game like I was?

Very much so. It's like ESPN has never heard of picture in picture. If the MSU game would have been on another channel outside of ESPN, I could have understood it a little better, but the game was on ESPNU. Totally unacceptable what they did, IMO.

Announcers kept talking about how young this Xavier team is and how they could be poised for a run in the future....

Yeah, they have some young pieces, but they also play four juniors/seniors. Wake only has two scholarship upper classmen on their entire roster (thanks, Bzdelik)

He also no showed ACC Media Day this year, which took place right after the stripper scandal came out, so this really isn't too surprising.

12/28 recap

Starting today, the madness begins in college basketball. But before we get into that, let me just briefly look at the action from yesterday:

Belmont upsets Valparaiso 85-81
California over Davidson 86-60
UC Santa Barbara upsets Washington 83-78
Army over Monmouth 91-84 (Whoopsie)

Oh, sorry. I know you want to get back to the Grade-A action, so I'll leave you to it and I'll see you tomorrow when the dust settles.

Wake is now 9-3 heading into ACC play. Can't ask for much more in year 2 of a re-building project.

12/29 recap

Wake is now 9-3 heading into ACC play. Can't ask for much more in year 2 of a re-building project.

After beating LSU 77-71, this guy's right; Wake is looking strong heading into ACC play... which begins tonight! Before that, though, here's what else happened yesterday:

Miami over Princeton 76-64
Purdue over Wisconsin 61-55
SMU over Tulsa 81-69
Temple over Cincinnati 77-70
Texas Tech over Richmond 85-70
Florida State over Florida 73-71
NC State over Northeastern 72-66
Georgia Tech over Duquesne 73-67
UConn over Texas 71-66

And finally, Iowa shoots down #1 Michigan State 83-70. How big was this game for both the Spartans and the Hawkeyes? Only time will tell.
