I don't believe that Mixon should be dismissed from OU. A red shirt and counseling is expected. An admission of his actions and an apology to the female would be best for his future. It's a bad situation.
the first I heard about this particular law, was either a OU running back, or OSU basketball player? Is this an Oklahoma law? Never heard of it in Texas? It could exist here, just never heard of it.
our charge was later reduced to unseemly conduct, whatever that means.
Ironically, it was a Cleveland County Deputy that arrested us and took us to the Cleveland County Jail in Norman. Small world....
The biggest thing going for him is that this is his first offense. I doubt he makes another dumb mistake like that again. If he screws up a 2nd chance then he's gone.

Law enforcement source calls misdemeanor charges against #JoeMixon "crap" says "Any other normal person would have felony charges."
1:42 PM - 15 Aug 2014 Norman, OK, United States
What's crap is the DA has elected not to press charges against the individual who initiated the physical contact and committed assault first. Both parties should be charged.
I'm guessing Mixon won't get any jail time, and the girl has been punished enough with her face totally wrecked.
Both of them are idiots.
That's bullshit.
He starts a verbal altercation by publicly making gay slurs about a girls friend. She calls him out on it and confronts. He get in her face (bad move). She pushes him (bad move). But then he lunges at her with his head and fist - to which she slaps him. She was wrong there but not as bad as I originally thought seeing as he threatened her. Still, her push and slap likely warrants a misdemeanor charge. But then to knock her out with a closed fist breaking her face in 4 places is beyond over the line.
Even the police affidavit asks for felony charges. Pure cop out by the Cleveland DA. What I've been saying all along. She should get a misdemeanor and him a felony.
