I don't understand players that can't take a free kick.

It'd be like a quarterback that can't predict within 10 yards where he's going to throw it.

If they are just going for a cross or corner, I agree with you. But to get over a wall, back down, and with enough pace to beat the goalie, is incredibly tough. You have to be perfect, and if you hit it half an inch off it can end up out of the stadium.

If the quarterback had to make his throws with baseball bat, I think the difficulty level would be closer.
