I have a weird thing for abandoned buildings/towns etc. I've mentioned it before but I can't recommend the book Hidden Cities by Moses Gates enough. All about urban exploration, subway lines that are no longer in use, observation decks that have been closed for years, climbing bridges etc. Love that stuff.
I listened to your recommendation and read that enjoying it very much. I like when they were in some drainage tunnels (in Russia?) and it started raining and his guide told him they needed to get out of there really quickly.

The ballroom is beautiful.
Its not the same but a year or so ago I saw a story on abandoned Catskill's hotels that was really cool. Some it looked like they closed on a whim never to return. Here is one of them, I couldn't find the larger article I read before.
