I'm torn on this one, on the one hand, the press does have a job to do and I think every tennis player knows it's part of the job, but as both BBB and puck have said above, they do ask some of the worst/dumbest questions imaginable. Also, who am I to judge what may be causing mental stress/anguish for another person? One thing I'm pretty confident of is that bullying someone by fining them and threatening to default them from the tournament is not the answer.

Edit: Naomi has withdrawn, well that stinks.
answering the press is part of the job.
when the press is really really stupid - and sometimes offensive, change needs to occur.

Yep that's a massive blow.

I really hope her team at the very least had a discussion with the organizer first and got nowhere which led to this. If that was the case I have some understanding of why she decided to go nuclear.
This would've been a much better opening salvo. I'm sure she's coming from the right place.

Not a good day for the young gen against the old dudes.

Felix (12 years younger than Cilic) loses in straight sets (still has not won a set in an ATP final and his match record is 0-8)
Tsitsipas (12 years younger than Djokovic) was up two sets to love and loses in five sets. Novak now one behind Fed and Rafa at 19 grand slams.

Felix just beat Roger on grass - No, it wasn't Wimbledon, but Roger has won the Halle tourney 10 times and Felix just beat Fed 4-6 6-3 6-2

kind of sad to see the end of this magnificent era in tennis
we have been fortunate indeed to see Rafa, Djoker and Federer go head to head for 15+ years.

Denis wins in straight sets over RBA, Felix wins in five sets over Zverev. It's a great time to be a tennis fan in :canada:

Shapo has a great chance to win his next match, but then he'll likely play Djoker in the semi-finals. Felix is in tough against Berrettini though, after gutting out a big win over Zverev, he might be emotionally drained.

Italy wins Tuesday, Berrettini overdoses on cannoli and grappa, Felix sweeps him the next day in straight sets :thumb:

Good news: Denis wins in five sets over Khachanov to advance to the semi-finals.

Bad news: Novak Djokovic is his opponent.
