so far so meh.... I didnt play the second game so I do not know if they are following the storyline.
not sure how I feel about this season so far. The Joel episode was a surprise/shock though. Might be a function of where I am at with this > I didnt feel like watching the whole episode last night. Stopped watching halfway through.

/I lol'd when I saw a couple of "Vancouver specials" (house designs specific to Vancouver and not seen anywhere else in the world) in that one scene early in last nights episode.

Just watched episode two of the last season. I hate those fucking mobs of zombies. They do nothing for me just fucking scurrying around.

I almost stopped watching last night (was thinking Im tired from the half so Ill watch it later) but my wife and I powered through. Just felt that there was 30 mins of unnecessary stuff in there. Seeing Vancouver architecture throws me off :noidea:

I still do not understand how casual people can be in that environment to play guitar, drums and make out without worry.

Slight differences but pretty much following it. It's definitely a different thing. I know for the game people wanted more of Joel and Ellie traveling around. Nope. After half an hour of disappointment (it's just a game) I moved on and ended up liking the story. I thought it was really good, if a bit convoluted.

I thought last nights episode was the best of the year. It's still a bit torture p*rnny which I don't like, but the rest was great I thought. The record store scene and the subway with Dina counting especially.

If there's any confusion about the different factions - here's some help. Everyone is awful.

I'm kind of enjoying that. The characters are familiar this season, but I didn't play the second game and I don't know the plot. Made the second episode hit pretty hard. I enjoyed the 4th episode yesterday for two reasons in particular:
  • It was the most like the gameplay of any episode in either season. The desperation, fear, and uncertainty in the subway felt just like the game - it had that intensity. It also had the element of them pausing and listening which you have to do in the game a lot.
  • Jeffrey Wright's scenes were awesome and he add some gravitas. When he turned around the second time and the guy already had his hand out, that was shot so well and his reaction was perfect.
Cinematically, an absolutely beautiful episode - the record store, the tank in the street, the TV station, the dark street scenes, the subway. The sets, lighting, extras, etc. were all REALLY well done. As a photographer, I was just kind of like 'wow, that is so hard to do.' And while the cityscapes are CGI, they did almost everything else practically, and I think that really has an impact in a world of bullshit Marvel green screens.

I found myself at the end of the episode saying "just walk away, Ellie." How is any of this worth it.

that was almost a jump the shark moment for me ... i was like what the hell is going on here?

I stopped watching right after that. Ill take their instructions and watch the rest of the episode in a day or 2

The record store was shot beautifully. The hole in the wall with plants growing on it and the light coming through on both of them was great. That scene is the one that had me thinking "dumbass, just go home, continue to fall in love and go home".

Lol you're not wrong but my take is they grew up after everything went down and never knew anything different. They have never known safety danger was always all around. If they wait until the perfect moment, it will never happen.

Plus from their patrol hijinx (just wanted to use that word) earlier in the season - Ellie and Dina are a bit reckless and think they are indestructible.

Side note - my wife had nightmares about the Joel scene and wants a heads up for something she kind of saw/remembers from me playing the game that happens later on. Unless they really mix it up, she should be good for this season.

My wife and I talked about it last night. We are both plot hole fatigued from the walking dead and how stupid that show got so I think I can be easily over critical on these things

Understandable. If the polar bear from Lost eats Neegan from the Walking Dead, can they rewrite the final season of Game of Thrones?

Oh yeah I get it. Particularly shows with sci-fi / horror elements what bothers - sticks out to one person may not another.

TWD had 3 episodes in a row I thought were dumb and that was just enough for me. So glad too, it seems like I missed 4 or 5 bad seasons.

I really enjoyed Yellowjackets the first two years. I gave up with 2 episodes left this year, I'm done. A friend of mine still likes it.

yeah.. that is fair.... I do still rewatch TWD but I stop as soon as they get to Alexandria. I consider the series over there. I would have taken 2 full seasons of them on the road over what we saw after that
