Yotes just lost in a shootout to Winnipeg, so the Stars remain in 8th place with a game in hand on Phoenix. Plus Phoenix has to travel on the road tomorrow to play at LA. Things are looking up!

Yes. The first tiebreaker is Wins in Regulation. The Stars have 34 regulation wins, Phoenix only has 30. So that tiebreaker has all but been decided. If the teams end up tied in points, the Stars go to the playoffs. There's really no way for Phoenix to catch Dallas in that tiebreaker. Phoenix would have to win 5 more games in regulation and then have the Stars win their 5 games all in overtime. Not gonna happen.

Its looking good. Playing an okay sorta on the fringe team (although they looked sharp tonight) team in carolina in a few days. Gotta get a point out of that.

I mean, realistically speaking, if we want to get in we're looking really good. We could be two points back before the last game of the season and get in just by beating phoenix. So... right now we're ahead of the game by two points and a game (albeit a game we're trailing in) at hand.

Exactly. If they can win that game in hand (the makeup vs. Columbus), then they're essentially 2 whole games ahead with just a few left to play. Any Stars win-Coyotes loss combo from here on out really increases our chances.

I wouldn't say that. Sure they have the tiebreakers but I think Phoenix will manage to get points out of their ass the rest of their games. As long as Dallas keeps on winning and taking care of their business only then should be able to get that last spot.

Hopefully a win tonight against Carolina. And the Wild are at the Blackhawks tonight. If things go right, we can cut Minnesota's lead to 2 points with a game in hand.

phoenix doesnt even have their starting goalie right now. If we were to win tonight, really their most realistic chance to get in would be to win out and for us to lose out. And we play them, and rarely lose to them, so I'm not worried about them like I would be oakland, for example.
