The Stars actually have a really easy schedule after today's game with the Blues. Granted, most of their remaining games are on the road, but most of them are against the bottom teams. Meanwhile, Minnesota has a brutal remaining schedule and Phoenix's isn't much better. Plus the Stars still control their own destiny due to their 1 game in hand on Phoenix and their remaining matchup with Phoenix. Win both the game in hand and the Phoenix game and that's 4 points gained on the Coyotes. Since they're only 3 points back now, that would put them into the playoffs.

We have to remember though that the one game that we have in hand is the make up game in which we are already trailing

It's a crapshoot on how this team is going to end. That said I've pretty much maintained all season long that they'll come up short for the post season since there's still quite a bit of holes and far far from a finished product. That being said I wouldn't be surprised to see them get in either.

If we can somehow pull out 2 points tonight we're right back in good shape. MIN & PHX play each other tonight so hopefully one of them wins in regulation.

Hell ya. Minnesota just scored twice against phoenix within 5 minutes. Now there's like 3 minutes left in the game and now theyre up 2-1. Cmon wild

Now we're in a really sweet spot! Hell of a game tonight from the team, and even better that Phoenix lost in regulation. If the Stars can go on a nice hot steak over the final 8 games, I think they're in. Good thing too, because I just got tickets to the entire first round of the playoffs, provided they make it of course.

They actually have a decent shot of landing at 7. There are certain teams I'd rather play in the playoffs than others, but of course we gotta get there first!

Here's a cool site which lists each team's odds of getting into the playoffs. It also shows at the bottom of the page what effect different results from the day's games have on certain teams' playoff chances. For instance, it will show the Minnesota vs. Los Angeles game and what a Wild win or a Kings win would mean for the playoff chances of Dallas, Phoenix, Vancouver, and all other relevant teams. It basically tells you who to root for in each matchup. A lot of times that is obvious. But a Minnesota-Phoenix matchup might not be so obvious.

Very frustrating. I was really hoping for an LA win in regulation. Minnesota has a tough remaining schedule, but I still think Phoenix is the team Dallas can/will overtake.

Minny is a good team with a lot of talent. I think a lot of people think why they're in a 7 spot when they should probably be better. While they were and still are to a degree within striking distance of the Stars I really think it's a battle for the 8th spot between Phx and Dallas.

Well hey, everyone gets to see that awesome powerplay formation the caps have today. In case you didnt understand my post about it, you get to watch it to see how effective it is. Its truly a beautiful thing to watch.
