I was in london and went to a tottenham vs arsenal game home field being for the hotspurs. when we came in walking to soak up the atmosphere we walked about 3 or 4 KM to get an idea what it was like walking to the stadium and try to stop for some pints on the way. we had one Arse "fan" and he was bundled up so you could not see his colours. as we walked close the pubs we did see that did serve alcohol as soon as you walked up it was a chant of WE HATE ARSENAL just as a warning. we kept walking and the closer you got there were signs that no alcohol was being served close to the stadium in pub for fear of rioting. when we got to the stadium you could FEEL the tension around the area. we had tickets that were in the Arsenal fan section so we had a seperate entrance to go in. We were standing there listening to the constant hurl of insults coming at us and everyone else that was in the line when one Spurs fan ran up and spit on one of the people in line. Right at that moment, a smaller female cop ran up to him and club him in the stomach and as the guy bent over a massive man of a cop about 6'6" clubbed him in the chest and drove him into a tree and pinned him there YELLING at him at the top of his lungs making an example of him to all other fans in the area that it wont be tolerated. he was then carted off to the paddy wagon.

as the game went on you could TELL the tension was building as Arsenal got hammered 5-1 and the fans were really giving it to one another back and forth. I got to talking to the only civil fan in our section and asked him why so tense (explaining to him we were from Canada and keeping my Man U fandom to myself) he mentioned that it runs back some 100 years of the areas. the game was over and when we came out it was a TOTALLY different feeling. we walked out to be met by a wall of Riot Geared Horse Patrol (about 15 fully geared up horses and squad) they directed the Arsenal fans to the right of the arena exit. we followed the path laid out for us and came around a corner to see about 30 or 40 full riot busses that formed a gauntlet of a path that directed us around some different corners and through some streets that led us out to general population where we were told the whole way to not to show our colours. we then filtered into the general area where most everyone didnt care anymore or couldnt tell who was who.

Ill post some pictures. it was fucking awesome

If I were to raise an army I want this guy to be my general on sheer inspiration only. this was when it was 5-1 he still cheered like he was winning 5-1.

I really want to make it Anfield for a game some time... I dont think there are more passionate fans than football fans in England. They're insane. I wish hockey was like that here :D Fans clash and brawl outside the arena after the game, lol.

I really wish soccer (football) here could take a massive leap soon, really wish the U.S. made it a little further in the WC. I'd still like to check out a New England Revolution game just to see how it is... I doubt the fans are even into it.

maybe this should be in ot bored since its non epl

canada's new kits: yay or nay on the chevron?

CSA+Home.jpg

ill turn it back to EPL
mooger: can you somehow talk to Junior "toilet" for us all

and now for something totally unheard of: a dual nationality guy is deciding to pick canada over his homeland ... nice story ... cap him before he changes his mind

Wouldn't it be great if Hoilett had the attitude of aspiring goalkeeper Milan Borjan who plays for FK Rad in Serbia. Typical of many soccer players from that region, his family fled the chaos there and eventually landed in Canada, settling in Hamilton. You may be familiar with his story as it's starting to make the rounds. Borjan has made it clear that he owes everything to Canada and has made his decision. Hart would love to have him in Greece. At 6'4", he's an imposing figure and according to Hart, has a great command of his area and makes good decisions. Let's hope he's making the right one when it comes to declaring his loyalty.

I like our kits... if only we could play consistent football. Eager to see how we do in the next WC, if we do horrible, I think that'll destroy any chance of it being a major sport here.

Mattola, that the game you went to was a carling cup semi final game in 2008, right? That was when Tottenscum were so happy to beat Arsenal and go into the final of really a nothing tourney... Carling Cup.
Tottenscum always has a goal to do better than Arsenal but never really can in something more meaningful...i.e. league

That transfer for Chelski is crazy but they had to do something because they were falling fast in the premier league. Their form as of late has be lacking to say the least.

Manure 5 points ahead means the game between the two of us will be huge and a must win for the Gunners, which can be done. This is the Gunners year.....or it better be since us fans have been waiting 5+ years for another trophy to put in the trophy case.
