A lot of places, including doctor's offices, have cut back their hours "due to COVID". Service industry places like hair salons and auto mechanics. Mrs 43 has been trying for 2 weeks to get a haircut. She is in school every day from 7 to 5. All the places to get a hair cut are open from 10-4. I can see why you might want less open hours in order to keep your place clean, but why wouldn't you be open at times when your customers AREN'T working?

Agree with you on the hours. Reduced hours to cram more people into less time does not make shopping more safe. I argued at the start of the pandemic that longer hours and some incentives to shop later would have made more sense. Ex - "10% discount after 10pm" at grocery stores.

That said... a pair of clippers for about $30 from any major store and 15 minutes at home... problem solved on trying to get a salon appointment and your wife will LOVE it in the summertime.

It also opens up some interesting role play opportunities to spice up that love life.

You're welcome in advance.

I don't think I can get there in an hour. And I call goalie interference VERY tightly.

We had a similar problem. We actually played a game last year at high school where one of the refs was a bantam. Younger than everyone else on the ice. He was a good kid, but I felt so bad for him. The look of sheer terror everytime a coach said "hey stripes, come here a second"

The situation here is pretty dire. All the adult refs are basically gone. I havent heard of younger kids reffing older kids yet but my sons friend is first year ref as a 13 year old turning 14 and he has 4 games under his belt from this past month of play and now theyre asking him to do peewee rep games. So some of those kids are just 1 year younger. He is working 5 games this weekend … doubling his games ref’d career lol

And they make it so difficult for new refs to break in. My son applied last week and the association is only taking 20 applicants :ohwell:

I used to referee soccer games (started when I was 14). Did it for two years and then decided I'd had enough after taking a bunch of crap from people.

/I would say that it was pretty tame compared to when referees have to endure in hockey.

Pretty decent money for an hours work and some decent cardio.
But they do take massive amounts of shit.

Even the soundbite from the Canucks-Hawks game.
Ref calls a penalty on Chicago, and clear as a bell "Fuck you, Gord!"
Confused me for a sec, because I couldn't think of a Gord on the Canucks who might have been involved.
Gord was the ref

I used to be a volunteer women's tennis ref/coach at the courts near my house but the county eventually made me stop
I can see it now….

Scorer: “fifteen love”
Comeds: “ITS GO TIME!!!”

Oh, c'mon...give him a little more credit than that. I'm sure he's more of a thirty love kind of guy.

She'll be 30 in a couple of months...Camila is a cutie.

I officiated Football, basketball and baseball until I was 58. I gave it up when I could no longer run with the kids. I coached the same three sports until I was 66. I gave it up because the parents were such a miserable pain in the ass.

Hello?
Coach this is Mr. Smith. Why isn't my son playing quarterback?
What time is it.?

I did the same when I was young, though I wasn't doing it durring the Great Depression like @dash . ;)

Worst job I ever had. Didn't even do it for a full season. Hated it. And I can't even imagine how much worse it is now with parents out there thinking their 8-year old is a future blue chipper and should be treated as such. My answer is...

Related question... are there youth sports leagues where the parents aren't allowed to watch? That seems like a genius move. Or with very strict speech restrictions like positive thoughts only? I don't know the trends with this but curious what's happening to curb overzealous parents these days. Maybe I'm wrong and it's actually better than it used to be.
