having the checkout girl give you the fuck me eyes >> having the checkout girl tell you to go fuck yourselfI would never get worked up over someone saying Happy Holidays over Merry Christmas in a lineup at a retailer as eloco said ... its a well mannered salutation ... its not like the checkout girl told the person to go fuck themselves. Although i would have been ok with her saying it after the exchange ... the "whole make christmas great again" thing is drumpf
HOWEVA
I went to the kids school christmas ... err ... season of lights concert last night and I gotta say ... looked like everyone there was bored out of their minds ... all of em ... kids singing and parents watching
could the music teacher not mix in a Jingle Bells or Last Christmas or Happy Holidays ... kids were singing songs they probably just heard for the first time a week ago ... seemed like no fun at all

And Nationwide Insurance, fuck them.
They don't go with one driver the whole time?
On another note, it drive me nuts how everyone is heaping praise on Ford for the GT. The only "Ford" part on that thing is the badge.
Their HQ is here in Columbus. Need me to go down there for you?

They cancelled my auto policy as of Jan 31st with no notification. I only knew because i went on to the app to pay my homeowners policy. I was beyond pissed. I obtained new insurance this morning but I would love to know why they did.
I have to pay over $500 every semester in student fees. Usually, there is a grace period if you're late, and I always use it because I get a $500 award every semester I teach, and that covers most of it, so I wait for that to pay my fees. Well, no one told me this was happening, but my award is being spread out over my paychecks instead, so I was late pointlessly, and the university decided to play hardball with fees this semester and charged me $50 immediately for being late, on January 11. They didn't tell me when my next due date was.
Until this morning. If I didn't pay in full by tomorrow, I would be charged another $125. That seems awfully excessive in itself, but it's not even a month after the first charge, and not telling me until the day before it's due seems especially ridiculous. "Hope you have the funds now, because we're asking for it immediately!"
I do have the funds (barely), so I paid it.
I looked at the breakdown of fees, though, and I think it's weird. Half of it is a library and technology fee, which seems like the sort of thing that probably should be folded into tuition since it's kind of an essential academic service. And if it were considered tuition, I'd not be paying it since I have a tuition waiver. The library fee is also so high that, on graduate students alone, the University makes $2 million. There's no way that doesn't at least cover all the license fees, and there are a lot more undergraduates than graduates, so that's not even half of what they bring in.
I have health insurance, but there's a separate health fee, too. We also all have to pay $50 into a financial aid program, but I still qualify for assistance under FAFSA, so why am I also being billed for other folks' financial aid? Do they also bill the students who receive that aid? My Rec Center fees are also almost as much as I'd pay for a Rec membership if I weren't a student, so what's the point of spreading that cost over the student body?
Honestly, I think the whole thing is just designed to let the university bleed students of money who have academic scholarships or tuition waivers.
But hey! Get this! When I get paid for research, the university also receives a payment equal to my stipend! The only reason I ever have to teach is because the University both tells my boss how he's allowed to spend his grant money, and also because they take literally half of his grant money. And when I teach, the department pays my tuition instead of it being waived! They're already making a bunch of money off me, before they charge me a single cent.
