Flying internet memes aside, it should be noted that the "extreme" threat level in New Jersey isn't actually because of the hurricane; rather it's that if you are in the colored area, you are in New Jersey and that's a terrible thing.

Can't believe these idiots on Hatteras who stayed and are now stranded. Hope they are paying for their exit out of there.

I agree but unfortunately the gov (FEMA) and the US tax payers will.

Lost it once for about 10 seconds then had lots of flickers. So I got pretty lucky with that. It was out a few hours a couple weeks ago.

That's actually really impressive if you still live in the area I think you do. They must have done some serious upgrades to the infrastructure over the years.

They used to have five hour outages when a car hit a telephone pole. Up my neck of the woods we'd lose power for two hours at a time for no reason. Good old BGE

All my peeps checked in safe and sound. My inlaws lost a deck table, and by "lost" I mean they came out after the storm and it was gone. I imagine someone who lives a few miles away is bitching about the deck table that landed on their car. Before you ask, yes. Pops in law brought the snowblower inside before the storm. I am convinced Mrs 43 is adopted.

My cousin was worst off. The one who cleaned out the beach house, then their house before heading to the hills. They decided that an older pine tree looked precarious, so they moved his pickup truck into the driveway (normally parks under the tree) and moved the "Civil war" van (a 1995 Caravan they bought new and has 236,000 miles on it) into it's spot so if the tree came down and took out a vehicle...

You can pretty much guess what happened. Truck is a goner. A different tree fell. Civil War van - A-OK. They also had a garden statue of a hockey player. He did not pass the test.

I have been in my house 10 years and oddly enough I have lost power a lot more recently than my first 5 or so years. I lost it for 3 hours in a mild storm a few weeks ago so I was really surprised that I didn't in Irene.

Huh..

Well don't move to Bel Air or any of the new neighborhoods along Route 7. Power goes out when people sneeze. I figured over where you were it was the same story.

I'm off of Honeygo a mile or so north of CasaMias. Maybe my neighborhood is becoming more like that now, hopefully not.
