^^ Awesome.

I should make an effort to go see a minor league game soon. But first, this 100+ heat index shit has got to stop.

Today's jaunt with the dog along the riverwalk was a little more tense than usual.

Instead of taking my usual path along the river I felt like taking a different route that takes me past some houses and a factory.

That part went fine. My dog and I went to the factory and a little bit past then turned back and that's when the fun began. Two playful dogs that looked a lot like pitbulls saw my dog (part Samoyed part terrier and roughly 10-11 years old) and raced towards us. They were followed closely by a little girl (around 6) who was trying desperately to get them back to her house. She said they were not allowed to be out that far and she was close to panicking.

Well, she wasn't having any luck getting the dogs to listen to her. They were too interested in my dog, who, to her credit, was doing a good job of keeping calm. The pitbulls looked like they only wanted to play so I wasn't as frightened as I could have been. Outwardly, I kept cool and collected. I didn't want the dogs to feel threatened but I also didn't want them to smell fear.

The little girl said (quite rightly, IMO) that the only way the dogs could be brought back to her house was for my dog and I to walk to her house. OK, this I really, really did not want to do. I'm thinking to myself how THAT would look in this day and age. We're right across from the factory - all I need is to escape a pitbull attack but then get beaten up by a beefy factory worker who thinks I'm a sexual predator.

However, at this point, the little girl is pleading for me to help her. Her face is covered with makeup. I'm thinking she's probably in a whole lot of trouble with her parents already for that and, coupled with the fact that the dogs are obviously going to follow me all the way to my car, I reluctantly decide to walk up to her house (about 30-50 yards away) in the hopes that her dogs follow.

So the next 2-3 minutes pass verrry slowly as I hope to God an angry dad with a shotgun doesn't come racing out of the house thinking I'm trying to kidnap his daughter. I stop every 10 yards or so, hoping I've gone far enough that the dogs will begin to listen to her. At this point I'm also a little worried the dogs might become territorial the farther up their property I go.

I ask her whether her parents are home. She answers yes but doesn't seem too keen on getting them to help her. That makes me suspect that she wasn't allowed to let the dogs out to begin with.

Finally I get up to about 5-10 yards away from their house before she successfully gets the dog back into their metal fence confinement area and she scolds them for being bad dogs and informs them they won't be allowed to play for awhile. She apologizes profusely a few times, I say no problem have a good day and my dog and I are out of there before you can say Jack Robinson.

Glad to be home. :ranger:

Major League Baseball has suspended Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun for the remainder of the 2013 season without pay, for violations of their Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Braun will miss the final 65 games of the Brewers season as well as any playoff games.

"I realize now that I have made some mistakes," said Braun in an official MLB release. "I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. I wish to apologize to all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates."

In 61 games during the 2013 season, Braun has nine home runs and 38 runs batted in.

Oh now that there's irrefutable evidence is the time that you realize you have made some mistakes :L

The Bucs won tonight, but they may have lost Grilli to an injury. That would not be good.

:L Who knew clarity in chain of custody was so critical to self awareness?

"I am willing to accept the consequences..." Ya know, because I have to. What a dumb asshole. I'm tired of the fake, stupid apologies from people who knew full well what they were doing when they did it.

You know what sucks about all this performance-enhancing drug use.

I'd love to believe that Chris Davis is having a great and magical season and could break the record of 61 homers, but I just assume there's like a 95% chance he's using drugs to do it. So I don't really care.

And when I watched the Tour de France finish this weekend, I just assumed winner Chris Froome is a doper. Even though he came out right away and said he wasn't and has never failed a test. I've heard that somewhere before.

I'm generally an optimist, so it pisses me off that pro sports has made me so cynical. It's sad. I feel fortunate when I was a kid I had a real hero to cheer for in Cal Ripken, not some doped up guy like A-Roid.

Pticher Brandon McCarthy had the best tweet on the whole Braun suspension

He tweeted - 'I realize now' ...and right there I checked out

Also, will the Ryan Braun suspension hurt the city of Milwaukee's chance of ever landing an NHL team?

JP Arencibia has deleted his twitter account - I wonder if he'll continue whining about Zahn and Hayhurst picking on him.
