The Goose lets loose...

"Bautista is a f---ing disgrace to the game," Gossage told ESPN. "He's embarrassing to all the Latin players, whoever played before him. Throwing his bat and acting like a fool, like all those guys in Toronto. [Yoenis] Cespedes, same thing."

"It is a joke," Gossage told ESPN. "The game is becoming a freaking joke because of the nerds who are running it. I'll tell you what has happened, these guys played rotisserie baseball at Harvard or wherever the f--- they went and they thought they figured the f---ing game out. They don't know s---.

"A bunch of f---ing nerds running the game. You can't slide into second base. You can't take out the f---ing catcher because [Buster] Posey was in the wrong position and they are going to change all the rules. You can't pitch inside anymore. I'd like to knock some of these f---ers on their ass and see how they would do against pitchers in the old days."

Not to steal BBB's thunder, but I think Goose should drink some cranberry juice.

What I've learned today is that anyone with half a brain or some common sense is a nerd now.

Common sense isn't all that common (we could look at your signature as well, but since eloco has that option turned off, I thought I would reiterate it).

I thought Bautista's response was unbelievably professional, respectful and he seemed to defuse the tension with an accurate response. People are wired differently, that's all there is to it.

Didn't watch much of day 1 but did catch the last minute (well, ten minutes in real time) of Providence-USC. Hopefully there's a lot more of that in store.

Stroman named opening day starter for Canada's Team baseball version.

As opposed to the alternative, which was...uh...Bautista?

What do you think BBB, will Sanchez be a part of the Jays rotation or will he be coming out of the bullpen?

I have absolutely no idea. I have a feeling they're flirting with sending him to Buffalo to try and master a breaking ball and using Floyd as a 5th starter. I think Sanchez can be a starter in the majors, so it might not be the worst idea.

Having said that, I think there's still a good chance they give him a start before making that decision. I can't see Gavin Floyd lasting long as a starter and who the hell knows what's happening with Hutch. Worth throwing him up against the Rays and seeing where he's at.

I'm hearing Sanchez had a quality start against the Mets today.

TBH, I don't think the Jays can contend unless Sanchez is a starter and a decent one at that, so I hope he did and I hope he shows enough to stick around the rotation.

Also of note, Osuna has been lights out all spring but it appears Storen will be the closer on Opening Day. Tough choice there.

Sanchez is indeed the fifth starter.

Gibbons says he'll only be a starter for a while then moved to pen. Kinda like last Sept. when he said Stroman will only come out of the pen.

LOLMets alert: Matt Harvey might not be ready for opening day. Team won't say why. Apparently isn't elbow-related.

Matt Harvey wasn't peeing enough and gave himself a blood clot in his bladder.

This is a real injury report.
