Still no news? That would be interesting.

The top of the National League is really tight right now. Every division is close between 2 teams (3 in the central) and you ultimately have 7 really good ball clubs, 2 of whom are not going to make the postseason. It's going to be a wild August and September.

Sometimes I get a bit bitter that my team is in the Central, just because it's too dang competitive. Blech. Scary part in the future: Cubs farm system is loaded. I'm really hoping that the Giants continue to flounder and the Bravos join them. That'd make me happy.

So the Pirates may be the only team in MLB history who ended an inning with a walk that turned into a double play today.

This is just awful. The Pirates had a chance to blow their game with the Giants wide open in the sixth inning after Jean Machi walked Chris Stewart to load the bases with one out. And then…disaster. Travis Snider, who was on second base at the time of the walk, inexplicably began to trot down to third base. Machi noticed, and alertly threw to shortstop Brandon Crawford, who got Snider in a rundown and tagged him out. Gaby Sanchez then broke from third to home, and Crawford fired the ball to Machi, who got Sanchez in a rundown and threw the ball to Pablo Sandoval for the third out. This is just mortifying for the Pirates. While they still led after this half inning, and it clearly wasn’t the sole reason they lose the game, it was pretty clearly a major brain fart on the basepaths by Snider.

I'm still seething over that. Between that and Chris Stewart behind the plate...they've given this game away. It's one thing when hard hits beat you, it's another when walks and a passed ball do.

Stewart had all of the time in the world to throw the runner out on the passed ball and totally panicked. I just hope this loss (pending) does not keep them out of the playoffs.

Felix sets MLB record, gets no run support. Not surprised.

Eff off Billy Beane.

No one could've replicated this deal. Wonder if this drives Price rumors.

The Pirates just went from being a front-runner to land the big fish, to being behind the curve. Cards apparently getting Lackey, after getting Masterson yesterday. Price is still out there...but...well...that's a pipe dream. Oh well, so much for having a shot this year. Not to be defeatist, but they have to make a counter move with the Cards or they won't hold pace.

Comeds, you just need to find the unique long ass number and put it between tweet and /tweet tags (remember to add the square '[]' brackets. As an example, I'll re-post jstew's tweet from above (the long ass number in this case is 494859221951729666)

Never mind...don't make any trades Neal. Don't do it. Lackey for Craig, Kelly? Insanity. Stay away.

Really wishing the Pirates had that dang competitive balance pick that they should have regardless...only draft picks you can trade in the MLB.

Let's just pilfer Cliff Lee from Amaro. Give him some no-name prospect with a lot of RBIs this year or something. He'll like that.

Mets and Pirates have made several deals in the past year, why not make one more for Bartolo Colon? We'll even eat 2 million of his salary for next season.
