I miss seeing people that have all of their teeth.

Which part of Carolina are you in again?

Last time I was down there, I spoke normal and most people were cordial to me but clearly hated my existence. So I, much to my wife's dismay, started speaking in an exaggerated souther accent, and suddenly got the best service in restaurants, and people were as nice as could be.

That only lasted until I adopted an English accent... I was going to try Indian or Mexican, but figured I would have been shot and stripped for parts :)

The fun ran out at the July 4th parade and the people who were CLEARLY still fighting the Civil War (Or, as I was corrected repeatedly the "War of Northern Aggression") in their heads.

Pretty much HAD to leave after that.

I moved away 11 years ago, and while I love it here, I still get homesick like that.

Yeah. I don't have that problem.

Westminster, My late sister had the same complaints. They would smile a me until I began to speak and didn't have a southern accent, she would say.

She told me they like it when we come down to visit and spend money as long as we don't stay. :)

My son moved back north after living in Greenville N. C. he and his wife told me "Southern hospitalty, my ass"

I don't hate it here I just like it back home better.

bunch of generalizing bigots around here :-p

Lest you forget, I've lived, not visited, lived, as many years in the north as I have in the south.
You are not exactly a large group of super nice, respectful, classy, Brad and Angelina look-alikes either you know, it's just those hometown mirrors may make it seem so. :-)

Glass houses, is all I'll say.

It all depends on where you are, right? Every time I've been around the Raleigh area, I've liked it. But where my sister is, across the South Cackalacky border from Charlotte... Just awful. It's almost like they use the stereotypes as a guidebook. There must be a prize given daily for "Most like a Jeff Foxworthy joke". Not sure how my prissy, notherner sister tolerates it, although she pretty much only speaks in a souther accent now. Defense mechanism, I guess.

My niece goes to school and lives in Charleston. What an awesome fucking place.

Same up here. I love Columbus and most of Cincinnati. Cleveland; What a shit hole.

Sorry, none of us northerners thought any southerners would be reading this thread. After all this isn't the NASCAR forum, and we know how reading in general usually confuses and intimidates the southern folk.

Hope you weren't offended.

yabbut, yabbut, yabbut, didn't you, or one of your compatriots, already say that the majority of people in your area are northern transplants anyway? :)

That's like comparing Jacksonville FL (lots of northern transplants) to Yulee, FL (yes, that's a real town here)

I'm all the way over on the other side of the world. I only get to watch games if I wake up early on Saturday or Sunday mornings and watch them online. =(

But I guess, this is the best season to miss; I'm a Devils fan...

As a devils fan the best part of the season to miss is a week after the playoffs start...:D

where are you?

I escaped the poor economy and lack of teaching jobs in America and am now teaching in Seoul, South Korea. No one here cares about hockey; although, my school surprisingly has an ice hockey team, but i've only been able to find one student that is actually on it.

Even hardly any expats I know here like hockey either. One of my friends is a Philly fan, blech, but at least it's something. We're going to get up at 8am to watch some weekend games and drink with breakfast. There's a bar owned by a Canadian in one of the more foreigner friendly areas, but I've only seen him advertising (North American) footbal games.

The student on the high school team here I don't think has been to any Western countries. I don't really know how he got into hockey or why my school thought to start a team. I'll have to attempt to ask him one day--he doesn't speak much English.

Saw these at some mall; it was surprising to see:
