News is reporting that 8 out of the 9 were hit by police fired bullets
which really sucks. I feel so bad for those cops. They got put into a impossible situation..a guy shooting and they have to return fire to stop it. Terrible news.

that's fucked up. I was wondering how there were so many victims when it appeared to be a targeted shooting, and the target got popped right off the bat.

kind of makes you wonder how badly these things could escalate if a bunch of people had their own guns without police training.

To me, that's an odd conclusion. Not sure where we are teaching people they are not responsible for things... and not sure, even if that's true, how it relates to (largely) mentally ill people going on shooting sprees.

As a rabid consumer of news from both here and elsewhere, it seems to me that the American News media seems to report on a lot of things in a way that would make an unstable person feel like someone else is to blame for whatever is wrong in their life.

Tired of pat downs at the airport? It's because of those terrists. Lost your job? Blame the mexicans, taking your jobs. Pay too much in taxes? It's the brown people on welfare you should hate.

Everywhere else on earth does not report this way. So you get people who are off balance with a sharp feeling that someone else is to blame for their problem. Then the media all but confirms it and they "snap". Although, no one snaps. They just deal with things the way they are most likely to deal with them. I am a criminal investigator, and I have never personally, or ever have known any investigator who has had someone commit a crime that they gave no indication was coming in some way. No one "snaps".

Of course I spend my days with major crimes detectives, DHS and FBI agents and people who investigate child ****. So we're all a little less faithful in humanity because we deal with the dark side of it too much. We've talked about this a lot. No one seems interested in solving people's problems. They only seem interested in making people afraid and telling them who's to blame.

Makes me sick.

I think I interpreted what you said in a totally different way than what you meant, 43. Good post.

I'm of the opinion nobody should ever watch television news (at least American television news) under any circumstances. You're 100% right the media tries to get viewers by stirring up fear.

Pretty much spot on with how I feel. Much easier to point the finger and blame then look at the big picture and try to fix it. I'm not sure how we go about changing the mindset we've become accustomed to but something needs to change. We are a very negative society.

Disagree but will not get suckerd into another gun conversation. If you want I will reply to PM's on my thoughts.

I hope the cops do not get destroyed about this though. I cannot imagine how they must feel right now.

OK so I hate to be the jerk but have ya'll noticed how fast this vanished from all the front page news reports?

I also notice how nobody has commented in a long time.

I didn't even see it; was too busy avoiding the news.

I agree that I hope the cops don't take too much fault over this, assuming they aren't at fault. Why the qualifier? Well, being a cop is a stressful job even without gunfire and in a situation like this I could absolutely understand if they missed a few rounds no matter how careful they were. But I do expect a review to occur (I imagine it's SOP whenever a gun is discharged and an innocent is hit), and hopefully it turns up just that, stress and a bad situation and not somebody being goddamn nutso on the trigger.

PLEASE NOTE I HAVE NOT READ OR HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT PEOPLE BEING NUTSO ON THE TRIGGER, NOR AM I ACCUSING THEM OF BEING THAT WAY.

I must have watched this video a hundred times when I was 17 and I didnt really like the song. And I missed the obvious nip-slip at 2:19 until I read about it in the book "I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution" 25 years later.

Not me. Its just a coincidence I posted a Whitesnake video into a serious thread at 3am.

yeah, but it was a video pointing out tawny kitaen's nipple, so that makes it totally okay :thumb:

Ok after some further looking into I have completely changed my mind.

I will post a vid and be warned a person does die in the vid. The bad guy..it is not graphic with blood or anything but he you do see him getting shot.

I am interested in what the rest of you see and what your views on it are after watching this vid.

I didn't watch it, because I typically don't like watching actual people get killed in real life.

You changed your mind about what exactly? And what caused your mind to change? Was it something you saw in the video?

The 1st time I watched it I was a bit confused. It looked like 1 of the policeman was pointing his gun elsewhere but it's not very clear so after watching it again I think I was mistaken.
