lol eloco, at least you listened to it. :thumb:

I'm open-minded. And I like stuff that's heavier (like Linkin Park, was huge into grunge back in the day), I just need a melody along with it. And I like some changes in tempo and dynamics (piano, forte, etc.). Heavy stuff tends to be one pace, all loud, etc. It usually tends towards guys that are great instrumentalists, but not necessarily great musicians, at least in my limited observations. I tend toward stuff where the guys are great musicians, even if not the best instrumentalists.

I do love Metallica, but I don't know, that might be like saying I love Justin Bieber to you. ;)

Very accurate analogy. Well, I love Master of Puppets.

Check this out. One of my fav bands. Very diverse, not all "one pace".

LOL, same here. Love Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, never much of a fan of really dark, heavy speed/thrash metal.

Wouldn't give others crap for what they like. Different strokes for different folks and all...

I like old behemoth.

I find I like blackened death metal (or deathend black metal?) from some other bands more. (compared to later era Behemoth)

I'm not sure I like black more, hard to say, maybe the little list I gave leans it that way.

I really love good death, black, thrash, and doom. (and hybrids therein).

I used to really stay on top of metal over in Europe, I dont know shit now. Thats where a ton of the good stuff is. It truly is a lifestyle over there, they are very passionate about metal.

And yes, old Behemoth is the shit.

I can't speak for all of Europe, haven't been on a cross-continent trip in almost 10 years.

But at least in Hellas (wife is native born) even the massive metal-'fleamarket' in Monastiraki is no more. Factor in bad economy, people (aka young kids!!) favoring downloads/youtube instead of physical media, etc....

sad.

I cant speak for any of Europe, lol, only been to Paris and London for a week each. Had no time to check out the music scene there. Just going by what I hear.

I used to literally budget $2-3k for that spot alone everytime we travel back to visit her family/ vacation in the summer.

New stuff for (then 2007 before it closed in 2009) $5-8 cd, 10-12 lp. Classic/OOP stuff going for ~50% of ebay price.

Literally made more $ sense to save up, go there, etc, than do mailordering when stuff came out. (since we're going there anyways!)

Fuck yea, if you're gonna be there. Greece, I hear is beautiful as well. I really want to check that out some day. My ex was half Greek and half Polish from Poland though. We talked of going there, never happened. Bitch.

well, if you'd ever been there (or anywhere in athens proper)
you'd understand the nomenclature that I would use... but since not...

basically everything there is a typical street storefront shop , about 10x10 (meters) with 3-5 stories of apartments on top.

this was a 4 shop wide, by 2 shop deep lot (aka to next adjacent parallel street).

Do the math on that real estate accordingly

It was literally a metal/hard rock market only.

About 100 vendors. On a given day probably 1-2M items for sale. Several native record labels too.

Odeth stuff was pretty cool, Jeff. Really liked some of it and some of it was just okay. But I listened to 3-4 other songs from them as well. Pretty cool.

I'm still inclined to listen to something "heavy" with pop roots though like this...

I miss being part of a band sometimes.
