Ok boys and girls. Imagine these first two lines.

Ovechkin-Crosby-Iginla
Gaborik-Backstrom-Malkin

Fill in the rest of your forwards and D-men with 500k salary players

and put in the backstop of THE MILLER.

Your at the top of the cap, but your a perennial conference final team.

A little too euro heavy on the top lines to put a lot of money on come playoff time.

How are you going to be a perennial anything when your goalie is facing 70-80 shots per night because you have no defense?

the first line...is just so...*sigh* oh to have such a line every played. it'd just be so fun to watch. hell, with that first line you could just put them out there without D and they'd still win. iggy could enforce, sid could play D and ovi could...score all the goals while two awesome distributors fed him pucks.

they would get a little weary after the third game though, since they'll have to play 35min+/night.

Sid and Iggy didn't exactly light it up during the Olympics, not sure why anyone thinks they'd walk all over the NHL if they were together. Sure, the addition of OV adds another element, but OV can be penned in for 40+ goals no matter whom his linemates are.

just thought the 2 lines would be fun to watch. Can you imagine defending against a 1 2 punch like that? Also, with 2 top lines like that how do you figure they would average 35+ a game. Put 2 hard checking lines together for your number 3 and 4 line and let those 2 lines play 15 minutes a game. Now the 2 top lines will average 22.5 minutes a game. a little high, but doable.

And which one of the six is actually going to go past the hashmarks in his own end to help his minimum salary Dman get the puck out of the corner? I foresee three forwards up near the blueline, merely hoping that one AHL-calibre D-man can fend off two or three actual NHL forecheckers.

hey I didn't say it would be perfect. I wasn't saying, wouldn't this team be amazing? I was saying wouldn't these 2 lines be amazing?

All I have to say is....

I recall laughing my ass off when New York's FLY line (Fleury - Lindros - York) got replaced with the All-Star FLuB (Fleury - Lindros - Bure) line, and one of them would flip the puck into the corner, and then each would wait for the other to go get it. Happened time and time again.

There were some pretty heady lines at the Olympics, especially on Team Russia. The thing about hockey is that heart, awareness, and drive will trump talent every time.

If you're taking salaries into consideration...

Parise-Getzlaf-Perry
L. Eriksson-Stamkos-Backes
van Riemsdyk-Carter-Giroux (Homer line)
Clutterbuck-Betts-Talbot

Weber-Streit
Doughty-Myers
Seabrook-Yandle

Bryzgalov
Anderson

With $370,000 to spare.

OV.Cros.Franzen (little unorthodox with franzen, but they need an immovable object in front, need being relative)
Stamkos.Backstrom.Iginla
Zetterberg.Datsyuk.Sedin
Richards.Toews.Kesler (little center heavy, but talk about your defense.)

keith.lidstrom
doughty.pronger
chara.green(e?)

miller
halak (been high on him for 3 years, cant stop now haha)

And you can't split up the Sedins, they are useless without each other.

Oh, wait..... hehe

no that's fine, they can average 22.5/night...
they would lose 12-9 every night...but they could do it.
