I enjoyed "Knives Out" a great deal.
Those who-dun-it's can be brutal if they are clunky, but this was quite well written.

Agreed. One of the better murder-mysteries I've seen in recent years.

I love me a good murder-mystery - which there aren't many of anymore - so if you've got recommendations, let 'em fly.

I thought Ana De Armas was great. Struggling not to hold the fact shes dating Ben Affleck against her

Speaking of recommendations as we all work further and further through our Netflix queues, I'll post a couple that I've watched in recent years that may not be on a lot of lists:
- Slasher (Netflix) - three seasons, each a season-long who-done-it story arc. Not award-winning, but enjoyable.
- Hap & Leonard (also on Netflix) - three seasons, pulp style dark comedy mystery
- Patriot (Amazon Prime) - Two seasons, dark comedy

If you like to read there are a whole series of Hap And Leonard books. Good stuff.

I really enjoyed the series too

Create your own. On lockdown you should be able to limit/narrow the suspect list.

Successful plan? Thoughts on movie?

really enjoyed it as well.
took quite a turn.
Jojo's chubby little friend was such a delightful character

some similarities between the two movies.
stunning cinematography in both.

It's going to tough to find something up to that standard for tonight.
I might try to get the family into Ozark (I've seen 1 and 2, and with them home, it's tough to carve out time to catch season 3!)

I did not know how serious at time Jojo Rabbit was - I guess most of the commercials I saw emphasized the comedic parts. I thought it was really well done. Couple of gut punches in it.

anyone watch the King Tiger thing yet?

I know he wasn't very kind to the tigers, but is that evident in the show?
That wouldn't go over well with the family if there is animal abuse. and then I'd hear about it, and honestly - who needs that in a quarantine situation.

at one point when someone alledgedly put perfume on tiger kings boots the tigers “attack” him so he fires his gun at them. I think he shot 2 but its not really revealed/confirmed. From the footage it appears that he did :noidea:

he also pulls a newborn baby tiger under a fence (and its looks horrific) to get it away from its mother so he can bring it inside his house to eventually sell when he was short on cash

and im probably missing obvious stuff but :noidea:

Last nights review: The Farewell

starts slow, gets to be a pretty good character driven story.
lots of cultural, family dynamics stuff.
reminds me of early Ang Lee stuff (eat drink man woman, the wedding banquet)

I can see why akwafina got awards buzz because she stepped out of her comfort level (like Adam Sander/Will Farrell doing serious stuff), but she was just so flat in this movie. kind of fits the feel of the film, but so very one-note
and they tacked on a Nick Fury moment at the end that really cheapened the film for me.
with this story, either go for it or don't. they really chickened out, and you could tell it was an after thought

I figured after a long day my wife and I could use a laugh so we watched The Plot Against America. Its hilarious! Ok, maybe not but it's pretty good.

Watched the first two episodes of Devs on Hulu the other night.

Visually stunning. Not hard to tell it's from the guy who did Ex Machina. Seems like a slow burn kinda thing, but I'm intrigued enough to continue.

btw the wife suggested watching it, so I'm off the hook if they get traumatized.
three episodes last night were increasingly holy shit.
