OT: CFL off-season news and notes

I'm watching the CFL Draft (lol) - Stamps just selected Lemar Durant from SFU (Farhan is known the kid since grade 10, he says he's a stud)

he turned heads at the ny giants rookie camp but i dont believe he got a contract out of it ... former teammate of Colin Kaepernick at Nevada ... he is apparently "shocked" by his drop down in the draft but caman dude ... you have NFL aspirations ... CFL teams want their first rounders to be guys who will be in camp in June not in October

Stamps also drafted Tyler Varga and from what i heard yesterday he may be nfl or bust (bust being using his Harvard degree for something non football related lol)

Yeah, I guess he signed a contract with the Colts about 10 days ago - Of course, the way that team goes through RBs, maybe the Stamps will see him in late September (lol).

/Could be a replacement for Cornish down the road as who knows how much longer Jon will want to play football.

Lions basically asked Roy Shivers who they should draft and he said ... everybody at UNLV (he lives in Vegas lol)

but to be serious ... the rb from UNLV they drafted Shaquille Murray-Lawrence had the fastest 40 of any offensive player at the cfl combine

the other day, they asked Buono on the radio about offensive players in the draft and i think it was sekeres who brought up Varga as being the only gamebreaker type rb and Buono stopped him mid sentence and brought up Murray Lawrence so it sounds like they wanted him from the beginning


/they also drafted Christian Covington but I dont think we see him in the cfl for AT LEAST a couple years

I can see TFC fans not wanting the Argos at BMO field, but the CFL fan in me says I hope the Argos will play there.

he got a lot of stick for owning 2 teams (rightly so) but i dont know where the cfl would be without david braley ... his next step is to sell the Lions ... so i guess we'll find out ??? seems to be exiting with the league in a better place

The CFL is definitely in a better place from a financial perspective and all these new stadiums coming on board (come on Flames/Stamps, we need a replacement for McMahon). My biggest concern is that I feel we are losing the young kids to the NFL, I see an aging demographic as the core CFL fans and I hope this doesn't spell trouble in the future.
