My company has followed three other major employers in town announcing a return to office in the next few months for currently designated "hybrid" employees. As yet this doesn't affect me since I was hired with remote designation and technology, which is quite co-sourced, is excluded from the mandate.

But the thing I can't figure out is why no company can be smart about this. There's already a rotation of employers in Columbus. You leave one place, you go to another until it's time to leave that one and go to one of the others. If ONE company would just commit to remote work, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel to get the highest quality employees. Everyone else is forcing back into office, so you can just scoop up the best employees who want to remain remote. Instead, everyone is just going to piss people off and kill productivity.

One other guy on my team is here. One is in Ohio, but close to PA border. One is Oklahoma, one is in Texas, one in Louisiana and one in Florida. If I sit in an office, I am still going to be on Teams all day anyway.

In order to be prepared I have to add US-Remote to my job search currently focusing on UK, NZ and Australia. I was also looking at Canada, but it looks like that isn't going to be far enough away.
