Story Time: I was an armed guard when I lived in Calgary (started in Vancouver then transferred there, can you believe I carried a gun for a living) and we were Fueling our Armoured van at our private Fuel pump which was just just outside our Secure Facility in Calgary (SEE GOOGLE IMAGE BELOW) I was fueling up our Armoured Van (smaller than a full size truck) for a graveyard shift in -35C (-31F) and my partner comes up to me smoking a cigarette, I told him 'dude I am fueling here take that away" he said.. "cmon man its so cold the fumes wont ignite" he then proceeded to take out his zippo lighter and ignite it right at the gas hose connection to the van. The fumes ignited immediately, he panicked and kicked the hose and it flew out spraying gas all the way along the side of the van engulfing it in flame .. he ran to the field and I started to then I realized there was a guy locked in Dispatch (it looks like they moved that in this map) and he may not know the dire situation... I ran back and opened the back of the van to get a fire extinguisher which was empty then I went into the front of the van which was also malfunctioning. I turned around to run inside the building and our dispatcher was running out with 2 extinguishers, one of which he threw to me I caught and we both put out the flames (it was very movie like)

after that little excitement we took the van inside and saw that the entire side was blackened from the flames. so we washed the van and the black came out leaving a yellowish/brown mark on the whole side of the van that melted the logo partially.

the afternoon crew was just leaving he walked past me gave me a wink and said "that'll buff right out"

now everytime I hear that statement this entire story flashes through my head.. anyway we finished the night with no other incident and he got written up for that.
