Stance: Goofy
Finally watched the BMX Quarterfinals last night. Some big upsets in there. Reigning world champ Joris Daudet, his fellow countryman (and human battering ram) Amidou Mir as well as reigning Olympic Champion Maris Strombergs (the Latvian Locomotive) all failed to advance thanks to crashes.
Great Britain also failed to get either of their two riders into the Semifinal after Kyle Evans had some bad luck and Liam Phillips went down after a surgical low-in/high out move by Tory Nyhaug got Philips wrapped up in a wreck where he took a knee to the face. Now they are going back to England as the only cyclists who didn't win anything. Poor blokes. (not really)
Nyhaug should have had three wins, but finished second in his third run, which effectively eliminated second place qualifier David Graf. Not sure if calculated, but brilliant if it was.
That leaves the three favorites for "men on kids bikes" medals as Tory Nyhaug, Sam Willoughby and Nic Long.
I don't think anyone left can touch Sam.
