I prefer both Irvin and Wells as middle and long relievers. A spot start here and there would be okay but not for the long term.
Didn't agree with not letting Irvin finish the 7th the other night. I know it didn't ultimately matter but he was having very little problems getting them out.Yup.
I dont feel as though the team is being managed as well as they were last year.
Bullpen not great, and relying on unreliable guys.
Hitters not patient: striking out more and also hitting a lot of homers. Not wearing down opponent’s pitchers as much. Not as many deep counts.
Really not sold on the new pitching coach .
I still think we need a starting pitcher. We don’t know how long Means will be out, Wells doesn’t sound like he’s coming back anytime soon and Kremer will be out for a bit. I don’t think Kremer (when he comes back) along with Irvin and Sanchez are long term solutions to the rotation. I don’t think anyone from Norfolk is knocking down the door starting pitching wise either.Bradish with 7 no hit innings today, 5/26/24. Does that change our direction of help? The bullpen is worrisome at this point. The schedule in June becomes a gauntlet and continues right up to the All-Star Break. We should know who we are by then.
Currently 33-18
I dont really understand how they are managing any part of the team, actually.
Bring up Holliday who isnt ready, send him down. same with Kjerstead. Same with Stowers. Whats the plan here?
Have great starting pitching, shitty middle relievers who are inconsistent retreads from other teams while you have plenty of trade chips to improve your relief corps: Santander, Hays, Mounty could all go. Mateo is an interesting trade chip. This is before touching the farm team!
Meanwhile, no hitters are working counts anymore. All or nothing approach at the plate? Why? Rutschman had a fantastic eye last year, and his walks - like everybody on the team - are way down.
Why? More homeruns but never wearing out pitchers?
Bizarre.

Offensively, I think if some of these guys can get back to where they normally are (primarily the outfielders) we’ll be fine on that front.
For right now, I don’t have a problem with him as he’s been good in the role. I just don’t think he’ll be able to keep it up for the next four to five months.Irvin's been a solid rotation hand though so hes earned his spot for right now.
