The Isles signed Mike Gillis's nephew D Adam Pelech to a 3 year ELC. Erie is down 3-1 to Guelph in their semi-final series in the OHL playoffs.

Guelph took out the London Knights in the previous series (London is hosting the Memorial Cup this season, so they get an automatic entry into the tourney. I still think that's bogus, but whatever).

That would be like giving the NFL team that's hosting the Super Bowl an automatic entry into the playoffs

It was done as a cash grab to ensure good crowds at the tournament. I would argue that junior hockey is big enough in Canada know that you don't need an automatic entry for the host team. Also, I have difficulty calling the host team the best junior team in Canada when they can't even win their league championship.

Im not so sure as you are about this ... going a bit sideways ... the regular tv ratings for chl on sportsnet are apparently pretty weak ... tsn is looking to fill programming since losing NHL and they arent even looking into CHL :noidea:

I know Sportsnet does Friday Night Hockey, maybe if they do it on another night, it would have higher ratings?

You could be right jstew, I mean they're only getting crowds around 7000 in Edmonton to watch the Oil Kings these days and they're the only game in town (not counting the Rush in NLL).

Maybe the CHL wants more games? That way they get more revenue for themselves, the host team & the local restaurants, hotels, etc, etc.. It's a win for everybody involved.

The league office is apparently looking at some irregularities using the TIBD Withdrawl Pod at the end of regulation.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun tweet last night, expect Jim Rutherford to move into a different role with Canes clearing way for Francis as GM.
