The Devils schedule right now is a shit show. Had a game Tuesday night and don't play again until tomorrow. Glad they're getting a lot of road games out of the way now so that they're home for the countless back to backs they play the 2nd half of the year.

This schedule has been odd for the Jackets too. They've had a few three game weeks, then they last played Sunday at 6:00 against the Ducks. It was a very tough game where their emotional leader got ejected and they came back twice to tie it only to lose late on a boneheaded giveaway.

Now they've had all week to think about it, and they have a home and home against arguably the most dangerous offensive team in the league, who just happens to be a (new) division opponent.

No telling what we're gonna see.

A game against the Sabres is usually helpful for teams trying to find their game.

And the overrated Islanders helped as well. But it all started back in the Philly game and then carried on against Detroit and even Montreal. Looking more and more like a complete team, all without Cally and Nasher.

I was really surprised when that happened here, too.

I don't think it's anything against Rick, I just think something about him causes others to slack off when he's out there. Like everyone looks at him and says "Oh, Nasher will do it".

Derek Brassard was a real big offender with that here. and Glass Jaw Huselius.

A good bit less "dump & chase" that in the past few years: Also somewhat higher scoring. Other than that, they're basically just trying to give as many of the young bloods, who now comprise nearly 1/3 of their roster, a chance to find their feet at this level.

Because they are looking to rely on him more when he is on the ice. Rangers have been doing this for years though, on nights where Hank would rest for Valiquette/Johnson/Biron/Talbot in net, they would step their game up since the King wasn't in net.

Now with Nasher off the ice for the time being, other guys like Kreider, Zuccarello and Pouliot have stepped up.

Seriously. If I go home and kick Mrs 43 in the chest and drag her around, and then spend a few days in jail I'm pretty sure I won't be back at work on Monday.

Avs could show a little class here and make him a healthy scratch at least until charges are filed or dropped.

Well, three Saskatchewan Roughriders players have been formally charged with assault in a Regina bar (the charges came down in either last September or early October from an incident that occurred in late August) and the team did not scratch any of them from the lineup. Not saying its right, just saying that's the way it seems to be these days.

Edit: I should probably add that two of the three (Dwight Anderson and Taj Smith) are pretty key players on the team. Varly is a key player for the Avs (you connect the dots).

Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Carter Ashton will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday for a hit on Calgary Flames defenseman Derek Smith on Tuesday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.

At 16:56 of the second period, Ashton received a two-minute boarding penalty on the play as well as a five-minute fighting major for an altercation that ensued with Flames defenseman Shane O'Brien. Smith remained in the game after the hit.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: boarding. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

I'd like to see Ashton sit for two games for that dangerous hit from behind, the fact that Smith escaped with no injury should factor very little into the decision.

Ask and you shall receive...
