Penguins 4, Canucks 3 Final/Shootout: Evgeni Malkin's shootout goal led the Penguins to victory over the Canucks....Sidney Crosby scored a goal and two assists.....rookie defenseman Olli Maatta scored his first NHL goal as it was a 3rd period marker to tie the game at 3-3.....in Alex Edler's return from suspension, he scored his 2nd goal of the season

Oilers 3, Senators 1: Edmonton goaltender Devan Dubnyk earned his first win of the season as he stopped 35 shots en route to victory.....Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was involved in the scoring of all three Oilers goals as he scored two goals and an assist

Avalanche 4, Sabres 2: After losing their first game of the season Thursday night, Colorado rebounded in Buffalo for a road win....Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan O'Reilly and Matt Duchene all recorded a goal and an assist each.....Ryan Miller fell to 1-6-0 as he stopped 22 of the 26 Colorado shots

Panthers 2, Wild 1 Final/Shootout: Jonathan Huberdeau and Brad Boyes scored in the shootout to lead Florida past Minnesota for just their third victory of the season.....18 year old rookie Aleksander Barkov scored the Panthers lone regulation goal on the power play in the 3rd period....Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin scored a power play marker in the 2nd period.....Tim Thomas was stellar as he stopped 30 shots and both shootout attempts by Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu

Devils 4, Rangers 0: Cory Schneider earned his first shutout as a member of New Jersey as the Devils finally win their first game of the season in their 8th game.....Andrei Loktionov, Adam Henrique, Michael Ryder and Dainius Zubrus all scored goals for New Jersey.....Henrik Lundqvist struggled mightily as he stopped just 15 of the 19 shots his way

Hurricanes 4, Islanders 3: Jiri Tlusty's two goals led Carolina past the Isles on Long Island.....Jordan Staal scored his first goal of the season as it was a power play strike in the 2nd period.....Matt Moulson was on the score sheet for all three Islander goals as he scored a power play goal and two assists

Coyotes 5, Red Wings 2: Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith scored his first career NHL goal as the Coyotes put a topping onto the victory against Detroit.....Phoenix scored four third period goals to storm back for the victory against the Wings.....Mike Ribiero scored two of the four Coyotes third period markers.....Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi scored goals for Detroit

Sharks 6, Flames 3: Joe Pavelski scored two goals and a pair of assists as San Jose peppered Calgary goaltender Karri Ramo.....Sharks scored three power play goals.....in a decision whether to keep him in Calgary or send him back to juniors, rookie Sean Monahan continued his strong play as he scored a power play goal and an assist for the Flames

Kings 5, Stars 2: Justin Williams' two goal night led Los Angeles past Dallas for their first win against the Stars at Staples Center in two years.....Anze Kopitar added three assists for the Kings.....Los Angeles' three third period goals broke a 2-2 tie heading into the final frame.....former Bruins' Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley scored a goal and an assist each for Dallas

Me too dash. It seems like a lot of the young teams expected to improve this year are struggling a bit in the early going. Columbus, NYI, Ottawa, etc.

Agreed. But maybe it will make the D be a little more aware that no one is going to bail them out and that will make them actually take care of the puck in their zone. I'm getting tired of watching the turnovers on the back end.

The Jackets' broadcast keeps zeroing on Torts. The announcers keep laughing at him and calling him "Mount Tortorella".

When the second delay of game penalty happened, they were openly mocking him. I love it. I can't imagine what he would have done if their goal had been waved off as it should have been.
