I hate the coaches challenge for offside. 90% of the time it gets overturned is because a guy had a foot up in stride. Also it often was an offside like a minute and a half before the goal and has zero to do with the goal being scored.

I would love to see it be if you challenge, you lose your timeout no matter what. And if you're wrong you get a two minute delay of game penalty.

At this point it's a coin flip at worst if the attacking player at zone entry is skating like a human. It gets used too much.

It was a huge overreaction to a couple of blatant off-sides missed by incompetent linesmen. It should go the way of the do-do bird, but it won't.

WTF were the Nordiques thinking giving us Mats? Was that mind-boggling at the time? Why were people just gifting the Leafs superstars back then and can they please start doing that again??

They had a top notch #2C already on their team in Mike Ricci. No need for Mats!!!

Seriously though they could have soon had their C depth as Sakic, Forsberg, Sundin, Ricci. Holy Schnikes!!

Or moved Mats to the wing. Unreal.

Or just traded him for something better than Wendel Clark lol. Today's equivalent would be trading someone like Barkov for...well not quite Lucic but something similar. It would be nuts.

Speaking of Barkov, he looks like a gem for the Panthers - Not only is he a fine defensive centre, but he has some elite offensive skills.

I first thought of Matthew Tkachuk but he's maybe a little too good and definitely a little too young.

Parise doesn't work from a style standpoint but seems kinda ok, right down to the back injuries. I'll keep thinking about it.

Edit: Dustin Brown maybe?

Barkov for Corey Perry.

Draisaitl for Rick Nash.

Player-wise, yeah it could be any of them other than Tkachuk.

But at least Clark didn't have any of those guys' contracts.

Sundin on some of those Avs teams in the 90's would have been pretty good. He played RW as well. A Swedish 2/3 line of him and Forsberg would have been nice to see.

Meh, they got a big enough gift from the Habs (thanks Mario Tremblay).

Do not besmirch the great Mats like this by even implicating him with his fellow countryman. Foopa was was convicted diver and if it wasn't for his postage stamp goal would still be waiting to get into the HHOF. You're lucky AKI BERG wasn't around to hear you say this.
