Tampa is probably the team with the cap issue. $8.6M of space with only 10 forwards and 5 D signed. Obviously Brayden Point uses up most all of that. Coburn, Girardi and Stralman are all UFA. Going to be a real challenge to keep even 2 of them.

It gets worse than that: Of those 15 under contract, 9 have some sort of NMC/NTC. 4 more ELCs expiring in the next year. Only Kucherov and Ruuta don't have a no move.

If they have any sense they'll cut Girardi loose. Probably Coburn too.

They'll look to trade Palat, IMO.

But still yeah.. fucked.

I would not mind Stralman coming home to Columbus.

And yet there's like 8 articles out there about how they're the favourites to land Karlsson lol.

Pittsburgh could eat another $2.8 mil of Kessel's contract and be selling a $4 mil AAV 80 pt scorer. They should be able to get some great assets for Phil if Jimmy knows what he's doing.

Winnipeg is another one, no one seems to be talking about them.

Hearing a lot about Kessel's being traded. I think it makes sense for a move to happen. Be interesting to see where he ends up.

Very true. Just read up on them. $26M under the anticipated cap looks fine, but Laine and Connor will eat into that bigly. And Par Lindholm is UFA!

Seriously, yeah after resigning Laine and Connor, they will be down to around $8-10 M under the cap and only have 9 F, 5 D and 1G. Both Trouba and Myers unsigned. Shame the Leafs wont have the space to take a run at either of them.

Well the names being floated around:

Kessel, Zucker, Rask and yes Jack Johnson. There has to be more than Kessel for Zucker straight up unless they think he would gel with Malkin?

But Rask for Johnson is basically a swap of bad contracts with the only benefit to the Penguins is Rask is younger.

Neither one is much of a defenseman.

I am seeing reports Kessel has said no to waiving his NTC.
