I just realized that Buffalo has lost 15 of their last 16 games. Yamma hamma.

I mean that roster is not perfect but it SHOULD be way better than that. Wow.

Yeesh, that is no good - Oilers have dropped four straight and with the Ducks beating the Flames last night, Anaheim has passed Edmonton in the standings. Current lottery odds give Edmonton a 6.5% chance of getting the first overall pick.

Ottawa shut us out last week and the Wings beat us in OT in the next game.

So losing 17 in 18 is a distinct possibility.

I'm not a fan of canning coaches every couple of years, but I won't be at all shocked if Housley gets canned in the off-season or starts next year on a VERY short leash.

If they're canning him, they had best be bringing in a very good replacement.

No point in giving him the sack and just moving on to the next project HC.

I agree, but shit rolls down hill. GM isn't going to can himself and there's a lot of pissed off people in Buffalo over how this season played out.

I don't want Housley gone, but it wouldn't shock me if they did the reactionary thing.

I know I'm preaching to the choir (aka Leafs fan in this case), but you can only shit on the fans so many times. Prior to this current stretch, the longest streak without making the POs was three seasons. They're on eight now.

Now THIS is an article I like to read. Capitals lead the league in improvement in shot share since the trade deadline (Flames, Hawks, Blues, and Bruins round out the top 5 in that order). For all the big names that moved, Carl Hagelin has been ridiculously good. From the article...

While it may have slid under the radar as a rather innocuous-looking move at the time, the effect Carl Hagelin has had on the Washington Capitals since they acquired him has proved to be as impactful as any trade deadline deal this side of Mark Stone. He's finally healthy after a rather uninspiring brief stint in Los Angeles, and once again flying around with his trademark wheels since the moment he arrived in Washington. Most importantly, he's provided the reigning champions that were sleepwalking their way through the regular season with a much-needed shot in the arm, which is a big reason no team has seen a bigger improvement in underlying performance than they have.

The fit on the third line for him has been a seamless one. Playing alongside Lars Eller and Brett Connolly, the three of them have been dominant in the 100 or so minutes they've gotten together thus far at 5-on-5. With that trio out on the ice, the Capitals are controlling a staggering 62.3 percent of the shot attempts, 64.6 percent of the shots on goal, 62.6 percent of the high-danger chances and are outscoring opponents 8-3. Hagelin's speed and ability to retrieve pucks has truly been a perfect complement to Eller's more methodical dogged possession game and Connolly's finishing ability once they're in the offensive zone.​

Hagelin's one of the better depth guys in the league. Picking him up is going to really help the Caps come playoff time.
