Pontus Aberg had zero goals until Sunday night. He's now the Ducks leading goal scorer.
what does he think this is? The NFL?
I can’t see them keeping him out. Many criminals have been reinstated over the years. His conviction has been expunged. He has served a long suspension before leaving and was banned for years as well.
I'll just say this and I know it was a different time, but Craig MacTavish killed a person driving drunk and he was able to resume his playing career after being away for a while. More recently, Dany Heatley was behind the wheel when he lost control of his car and killed Dan Snyder in a car accident and he continued on with his playing career. Obviously, what Voynoy did was reprehensible, but I think he has paid the price and deserves a chance to resume his playing career.
I guess the NHL could reinstate him independently, but wouldn't he have to go through both US and Canadian immigration clearance? Didn't he leave the US voluntarily because he was probably going to be deported anyhow?
Don't see why the NHL would bother until he's cleared through that process.
That's why the NHL needs to expand to Singapore - no kinds of visa issues like that. And if you really fuck up they put you to death so there is no need to be reinstated then. Win win in my book.Yeah, I was thinking about that as well, you could see a situation where he might not be able to enter Canada if a US team picked him or vice versa with a Canadian team where he's not able to enter the US.

Correct - they do not have high sticking penalties in Singapore. What about public canings? Do they still do that in Singapore?
He has already got clearance on July 2 He is now legal free to play. He had this year left on his Kings deal so that may come into play. Bettman will investigate (stall) as long as possible but NHLPA will be forced to fight for Voynov. He had no criminal record (now) and has legal meet all is obligations legally.I guess the NHL could reinstate him independently, but wouldn't he have to go through both US and Canadian immigration clearance?
