Boston media was all over that too ... saying Tanev launched himself into the boards ... it is what it is

I usually dont enjoy it when ex players play the "you never played the game" card ... but Corey Hirsch described it well ... he was off balance in an odd position and guys know what theyre doing ... a short crosscheck to the lower back/ass region and anyone would end up off balance

I know guys take dives. It happens WAY too much for my liking and I can't stand it.

There aren't many guys who will launch themselves head first into the boards to draw a penalty.

Tanev: Sure I need to eat my meals through a straw and all my kids concerts and sporting events need to be wheelchair accessible, but I put Ryan fucking Spooner in the box for two minutes. RYAN SPOONER!! I got that fucker good!! Rookie fuckwad!!

It's a game played on ice, with dudes balancing on blades. I know there are times where it looks like a guy does that (and it has happened...but they'll usually throw themselves in sideways/not that hard), but geeeeeez. Maybe just don't cross check a guy's back when they're bent over like that near the boards? That's never okay.

I was fairly convinced this was a goal, just because of how evvvvveryone reacted. Never seen a goalie do that. Errey kept saying "Mason looks hurt". No, Bobby...that's the dejected "just let a goal in" look. I so very much wish they had scored with his back turned.

Follow-up on the Torts injured at practice that esls posted earlier:

I guess Rene Bourque was flying in practice when he hit a rut in the ice and went sliding into Torts who took a nasty spill. Apparently, it was serious enough that Torts went to hospital. I'm no fan of Torts, but you don't want to see anybody hurt.

/I have to question the authenticity of this account though, Rene Bourque flying in practice?

I guess Rene Bourque was flying in practice when he hit a rut in the ice and went sliding into Torts who took a nasty spill. Apparently, it was serious enough that Torts went to hospital. I'm no fan of Torts, but you don't want to see anybody hurt.
