Really, though, Detroit does need offensive help terribly. I thought they'd be a good rental candidate for Staal along with the Habs.

Actually, I think the true reason for the Wings' offensive struggles is that they play with the puck too much. They're always looking for the perfect play and often end up getting nothing on net. If they fired it on net and crashed for rebounds a little more, the goals would come a little more frequently.

It would also help if a couple more scorers on the roster braved the crease & slot area more often.

Having Stamkos would be nice, but what the Wings really need is an elite defenseman who can get shots through from the blue line. ZERO of the Wings defenseman are capable of getting shots through.
