Nassau was just fine. The problem is the arena was a dump. The team was winning and had 95% attendance last year.

This is a complete tinfoil hat thing, but I think they've reverted to not calling anything normal/being power hungry bastards because they know the league is on eggshells with them. There was the Maurice bullshit, the taped wrist for JT Miller yesterday, and while it seemed they had learned about interference finally, that's out the window again. Just overall piss poor work from them. Then again I'm just unusually bothered by the fact that shit that actually has a major affect on the game is uncalled (interference, holding) while other stuff with zero impact is so damn cut and dry (delay of game, equipment stuff).

The biggest problem with getting an arena built in L.I. was politics & Wang's vision was simply to big. I hope something gets done so the Isles can stay. The team is just beginning to show signs of being a contender. It would be sad to see them leave the area.

In seriousness though, I would hope Bettman would put even half the effort into saving the Isles as he has put into the likes of Phoenix. I know, I'm crazy for thinking that. I'm just saying.

Wang saved the Islanders when he bought the team. Nobody else seemed to be interested at the time. The question now is what will Ledecky do if they decide to get out of the lease?? I tend to think the league would like the Islanders to remain in the area. Whether or not that's feasible remains to be seen.

I complain because the league continues to be built for big/slow/interference laden teams, not speed and skill. Yes, that's my team, but it's also known as entertaining.

The Isles number surprises me a bit, the Rangers one doesn't. Just based on how a team plays. If called appropriately, the faster skilled teams should draw more penalties. I don't put Rangers in that mold.
