There's talk about the Coyotes getting a new arena in the Phoenix area. They've already got an arena for the Suns & an arena for the Coyotes & could build a third arena. Yet the Isles haven't been able to get one. It's RIDICULOUS!!

I mean, you'll find many friends here that loathe publically funded arenas. Heck, Ottawa is considering a new building in a better location (probably similar to Phoenix/Glendale) even though the arena is like 20 years old.

The talk is the new Yotes arena would be where the Convention Center is. The big problem the Yotes have with their current arena is the location. It can be a pain to get their especially midweek.

What arena options are there in Queens? I honestly don't know.

I know Continetal Airlines Arena (Meadowlands) is likely to be demolished in 2017. Been closed a few years. It has enough seats, but probably not going to get a lot of Isles fans going out there.

There was chatter about Willets Point Queens which is adjacent to Citifield.

I think it's getting to the point where the league and ownership need to realize that the NYC area can't accommodate 3 NHL teams and since the Rangers aren't going anywhere (although MSG might still get demolished in a few years...) and the Devils just built Prudential, the Isles might be the odd team out here.

It would be sad, but at this point it might be the only option left.

The biggest problem with getting an arena built in L.I. was politics & Wang's vision was simply to big. I hope something gets done so the Isles can stay. The team is just beginning to show signs of being a contender. It would be sad to see them leave the area.

I was just always of the belief that if they couldn't get something done at Nassau they would be in tough to work anywhere else in the region.

Like I said, there's a good possibility that MSG gets razed when they re-do Penn Station. Maybe the Isles, Rangers and Knicks go splits on an arena in Queens but barring that I'm at a loss for how this team survives there.

I have a hard time believing Dolan would team up with the Isles, but you never know. It doesn't look good right now that's for sure.

I hope they get the arena. Just because i am curious what the next excuse will be when it fails to generate interest.

I think the best case scenario would be the Isles end up back on LI. I want nothing to do with the Rangers. EVER.

Nassau was just fine. The problem is the arena was a dump. The team was winning and had 95% attendance last year.

Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Race track for Nascar & a Drag Strip for the NHRA. The Phoenix area has it all. There's only so much money to go around though.

I think Dolan would do it if it saves him money.

I can't see it for one reason. The scheduling would be ridiculous. The Knicks, Rangers, Islanders & all the other stuff that goes on at MSG. I don't think there would be enough days for all three teams to get their home games in. It would be tough.

This. If you haven't watched the ESPN "30 for 30" on John Spano's purchase of the Isles (Big Shot), it clearly illustrates how much of a dump NVMC was/is. Spano tried to get a new arena built, but to no avail.

The funny thing is he saved the team due to the TV deal he was able to get done.

I can't believe Spano almost pulled that whole thing off. That 30 for 30 was great, also very scary.

Spano almost got the guys who owned that luxury hotel (was it the Garden City Hotel?) to partner with him and they would have provided him the money to complete the purchase of the Islanders.
