This guy has some horrible luck. I hope he's okay. That's an extremely dangerous play by Niederretier regardless if the door was opening or not. Did he at least get a penalty on the play? I also can't imagine there would be any supplemental discipline on this one...freak thing.

They didn't call anything on the hit by Nino against Maatta. Probably should have been at least 2:00 for boarding. Not to mention just how dangerous of a play it was by Niederreiter. Maatta's numbers were facing him, and yet he still followed through on his cross check to Maatta's back and sent him low into the boards with the door opening.

Hope Maatta is ok...

No penalty on it. Niederreiter kept mentioning the door. Yes, the door obviously led to the injury being worse. But the puck is long gone, he's trying to get up ice, and you're making a change...sorry Nino, you can't justify away the fact that it's a cheap hit. Any hit to the numbers is cheap, some just have worse outcomes.

My short video last night, shows the speed of the play, and that Niedereiter is being very careless. He's trying to get to the bench and just cross checks him away. Still think that's a major penalty.

No internal damage (good news), but Maatta looks to be week-to-week (not so good news). Also, doesn't appear to be any supplemental discipline likely for NN.
