I'm just going to say that while them having Eichel (and to a lesser extent ROR) for the mid-to-long term future scares me, I am quite happy Evander Kane will be a Sabre for a long, long time.
If Kane can keep his head out of his ass (I know, a HUGE if), he can be a big contributor to that team for a long time. The dude has tons of talent and can definitely contribute, especially playing with guys of Eichel's caliber.I'm just going to say that while them having Eichel (and to a lesser extent ROR) for the mid-to-long term future scares me, I am quite happy Evander Kane will be a Sabre for a long, long time.
The expectations with Babs were way too high. I'm not talking about only the Toronto area either. I think most people in the area aren't shocked with the record, but people pinning it on the coach are batty. I still don't fully understand why Babcock has the sterling reputation that he does in comparison to a few others and it makes those expectations ridiculous and unobtainable. Coaches can have an impact, but it's so marginal in comparison to what the players do.
Just hope they don't sign Buff in the offseason. If Kane can keep his head out of his ass (I know, a HUGE if), he can be a big contributor to that team for a long time. The dude has tons of talent and can definitely contribute, especially playing with guys of Eichel's caliber.
Really gotta get that head extracted though.
"Thumbs down" to what is shaping up as a tedious season in Toronto. It is well advertised that the Maple Leafs hope to win as often as they can now but plan to win more often in the years ahead. That's the palatable way of saying they expect to lose now.Occasionally, Dave Hodge bugs me - Thumbs down to the Leafs? I don't get it, the Leafs have at least shown pretty good effort in most games I've watched of theirs this season, I mean everybody knew it wasn't going to be a great season as far as collecting 'W's" is concerned.
Thumbs up to Canucks, Habs; down to Leafs
/I'm not a Leafs fan, by the way.
They're hoping Marner can center, but more realistically he's a winger. Ditto for Nylander.
Leafs are purely in the market for picks at this point I think. They made 9 selections at the draft this year and they already have 10 picks stockpiled for next year's. They should wind up with at least 12 come draft day, and I would think they'd want 5 minimum to be in the top 60 so any moves for a guy like JVR is going to have to address that.
Luckily for the Leafs, there are plenty of teams that could contend that have +/- $5 mil in cap space available that would be more than enough to accommodate JVR and his contract (which is still a fucking bargain). Ducks, Preds, Flames, Sens, Stars, Wild, Jets, Sharks and Isles all have both the space and the potential need. And the Leafs have the added benefit of being able to take back a bad contract to sweeten the pot for both sides.
Sure, just throw in Anthony Beauvillier and a first round pick. You mean the Leafs would be willing to take back somebody like Bailey in a deal for JVR? In all seriousness Anaheim might need to do something. Firing the head coach will probably come first though.

I think Garth would trade Barzal or Beau ahead of Dal Colle. Think he pictures him as JT's long-term wing partner. No thanks. I'd rather trade Dal Colle & ONE of Mayfield or Pelech.

Is the box score of the Cow Pies/Devils game accurate? Shots are 15-8 in favor of Devils after two? What is this crap trap hockey
