Trust me, as unlikely as it seems, it is good.

I would take just about any player over Boll at this point *

* Not Dion, BBB. It has to at least be a forward.
You think it's good now.

Then again, former Leafs tend to do rather well against them so maybe just for tonight it's a good idea.

Iron Curtain Mike Keenan?

At 65, Keenan is still working his craft, coaching Magnitogorsk in the KHL. Keenan is highly regarded in Russia having piloted his team to the league championship, the Gagarin Cup, in 2013-14. However, he may on the verge accomplishing something unique in the world of hockey, if not extraordinary.

The native of Whitby, Ont., is in the process of finalizing his Russian citizenship, as is his long-time assistant, Mike Pelino. Russian officials have been encouraging Keenan do this for some time to show fans he is committed to the team, the KHL and the country. Keenan, who says he has learned enough of the Russian language to get by, is in the final year of his contract but doesn't sound like he's in any rush to get out. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

Once his Russian citizenship has been approved, there is a good chance the highly decorated coach will return to international competition. If all goes as planned, Keenan could be on the bench, or at least a member of Team Russia's staff, at future championships, including the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto in 2016.

Dreger Report: Keenan could return to international hockey on Russian staff

No team in the Metro Division has a positive goal differential at the moment. Not sure I've ever seen that before for an entire division... even early in the year.

2011-12 & 2012-13 saw the northwest division have only 1 team with a positive goal differential

/miss you northwest division :pout:

I managed to pull some phone records from a few months back. It's fun to look back.

Bob Nicholson: Hey Todd, it's Bob Nicholson, how'd you like to coach the Oilers this season?
Todd McLellan: Oh, I don't know...
Bob Nicholson: What do you mean, you don't know?
Todd McLellan: Let me get back to you, will ya, Bob? I got a guy on the other line asking about some white walls.

"Jake" Taylor Hall: Hello??

Chiarelli: Jake? This is Peter Chiarelli of the Oilers. How'd you like to be the captain of the Oilers this year?

Jake: What??

Chia: We'd really like to get a look at..

Jake: IS that you Tolbert?!??! This isn't funny you know. I'm hungover, my knees are killing me and if you're gonna pull this shit at least you coulda said you were from the Rangers!! <slams down phone>

Kevin Weekes dislikes this.

I've shot pucks on Kevin Weekes. He's a lovely fellow, but I think I prefer Tugnutt's body of work. It's close though, looking at it now Weekes had a better career than I remembered him having.

Jackets up 1-0 after one in Columbus.

They looked nervous, still a bit out of sorts. Like they are trying not to anger the fans. Leafs playing with pressure and pace and forcing mistakes. So far it hasn't bitten the Jackets. Hopefully now that the period is over they can settle in and keep going.

Beautiful tip by Jenner on the goal. Babs flipped his shit because it was off a faceoff in the Leafs zone after an iffy icing call.

Clarkson looked like he was trying to make out with Dion there...

Also, man, the Jackets would be in an interesting position if that Saad deal didn't happen for them...

*sigh*

Todd Richards might be coaching his final game in Columbus tonight.

From your mouth to God's ears. No emotion even after Foligno's goal. Nothing.

Clarkson looked like he was trying to make out with Dion there...

I like Clarkson in this game. He's paid entirely too much, but we're not the morons that signed him for that much. We just traded for him, so like half morons. Huge improvement over Boll.

He is really annoying the shit out of Phaneuf.

Also, man, the Jackets would be in an interesting position if that Saad deal didn't happen for them...

Hard to say. Dano and Anisimov could be useful. Karlsson is not as good as Wennberg (not even close) and Anisimov's prowess in the faceoff dot would be useful right about now because Karlsson is so far over his head. And Richards is using Saad on the point on the power play, so he's not hitting his potential, IMO.

All things being equal, I prefer Saad, but that trade doesn't really affect the Jackets fortunes at the moment.

Johnson needs to be benched. He has just been brutal. If he passed to the Blue Jackets with the efficiency he passes to opponents, he'd be deadly. If he gets more than 15 minutes a night, we're going to fail.

Take nothing away from the Leafs. Playing uptempo, good forecheck, taking away time AND Reimer (yeah, I said that right) has been outstanding.
